Roy Raymond Shaffer, son of Charles William Shafer and Millie Florence Huffman, on September 18, 1941 at Charleston, Kanawha Co., West Virginia.^3,4,2 Dorothy Mae Counts died on August 10, 2001 at St. Albans, Kanawha Co., West Virginia, at age 77.^1,2 She Dorothy M. Shaffer, 77, of St. Albans, died peacefully in her sleep, Friday, Aug. 10, 2001, at her residence. She was a member of Parsons Chapel Primitive Advent Christian Church, Charleston. She took care of the elderly in her home, including several family members. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, the Rev. Roy R. Shaffer; grandson, Keith "Toby" Shafer; parents, George Dana and Maggie Counts; sisters, Doris Conn, Bobby Kinison, Nadine Naylor, and Mildred Cotter; brother, Keith Counts. Surviving are: Raymond of Gandeeville, David of Victoria, Texas, Jerry of Lewisburg, and Joe of Dunbar; daughters, Bonnie Legg of St. Albans, and Sandra Kinaid of Gauley Bridge; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Services will be 11 a.m., Monday, Aug. 13, 2001, at Parsons Chapel Primitive Advent Christian Church, Charleston, W.Va., with the Rev. Don Young, and the Rev. Roy Moles officiating. Burial will be in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes, W.Va. on August 12, 2001.²

     Charles David "Dave" Shaffer was buried at Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, 5233 Rocky Fork Road, Cross Lanes, Kanawha Co., West Virginia.¹ He was born on November 11, 1945 at Elkview, Kanawha Co., West Virginia.⁴ He married Pearl Salinas on November 21, 1973 at Nueces Co., Texas.^5,6 Charles David "Dave" Shaffer died on May 11, 2012 at Victoria, Victoria Co., Texas, at age 66.¹ He Charles David "Dave" Shaffer, 66, of Victoria, Texas, formerly of Elkview, passed away Friday, May 11, 2012. He was preceded in death by his parents, the Rev. Roy R. and Dorothy M. Counts Shaffer; and his wife, Pearl Shaffer. Dave attended Elkview schools; was a U.S. Army veteran; and served two tours of duty in Vietnam. He loved to bowl and play golf, and spend time with his family. Surviving are his daughters, Donna Smolder of Charleston and Melissa Shaffer of Waco, Texas; sons, David Lee Shaffer of New York and Benson Shaffer of Victoria; sisters, Bonnie Legg of Charleston and Sandra Kincaid of Gauley Bridge; brothers, Raymond Keith Shaffer of Gandeeville, Jerry Shaffer of Lewisburg and Joseph Shaffer of West Virginia; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home, Charleston with the Rev. William K. Berry officiating. Burial will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes, with military graveside rites accorded by American Legion Post No. 61, Clendenin. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the funeral home. on May 15, 2012.¹

Roy Raymond Shaffer and Dorothy Mae Counts, on November 21, 1973 at Nueces Co., Texas.^1,2 Pearl Salinas died on July 29, 2004 at Victoria, Victoria Co., Texas, at age 60.^3,2 She Loving Mother and Grandmother, Dedicated and Loyal Friend to all, Pearl Lopez Shaffer, 60, of Victoria, died July 29, 2004. She was born July 6, 1944, in Edinburg, Texas to Carolina "Carrie" Salinas of Victoria. Mrs. Shaffer was a teacher for 31 years in VISD and also taught in Robstown. She was a member of the Coleto Creek Baptist Church. Survivors include: Her Husband, Charles Shaffer of Victoria; her mother; Sons, Benson Shaffer of Victoria and David Lee Shaffer of New York State; Daughters, Melissa Serrano and husband Timothy of Victoria and Donna Smolder of Charleston, WV; Brother, Vic Salinas of Victoria; Sisters, Delia Young of Victoria and Vivian May of Beverly Hills, CA; Seven Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by Her father, T.V. Salinas. Visitation will be held Monday, August 2, 2004, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, August 3, 2004, at 10:00 a.m. at Colonial Funeral Chapel. Interment to follow at Joshua Cemetery. There will be a "Pot Luck" lunch served after the graveside services. So come, bring a dish and fellowship with the family. Price died on February 6, 2011 at Kanawha Co., West Virginia, at age 85.^3,2 She Phyllis M. Shaffer, 85, of Rocky Fork went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 6, 2011. Phyllis was a lifelong resident of the Cross Lanes area. She was an active member of McKinnon Presbyterian Church since 1953 and had been an elder, Sunday school teacher, and choir member, as well as doing anything that was asked of her. Phyllis was a former member of the Tyler Mountain Homemakers, an artist, a seamstress and a quilter. She is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Lonzo F. Shaffer; daughters, Janet (Rick) Norris of Hurricane, Barbara (Jim) Skidmore of Cross Lanes and Jo Ann (Woody) Snyder of Clendenin; sister, Lola Underwood of Sissonville; and brothers Herbert Price of Sissonville and Willard Price of Ravenswood. Phyllis was blessed with seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A service to celebrate Phyllis' life will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 9, at Tyler Mountain Funeral Home with the Rev. Doug Minnerly officiating. Entombment will be in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens Mausoleum. There will be a gathering of family and friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, 5233 Rocky Fork Road, Cross Lanes.
