He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 1, 2011, at Walker Funeral Home in Winchester. Burial will follow in Buena Vista Cemetery, southwest of Winchester. Farrell, Kokomo; daughter and son-in-law, Joyce F. and Bill Sears, Kokomo; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Charles Kevin McNally, Delphi, Mark A. and Melissa Yohn, Point Isabelle; brother, Jerry A. Jones, Kokomo; a sister, Esther W. Grant, Michigan City; granddaughter, Tamara Davis; granddaughter and husband, Kimberly and Steve Hatfield; three grandsons, Stephen and Shane Farrell and Joshua Farrell; granddaughter and husband, Melanie and Steve Hudson; grandson and wife, Jason and Jessica Mitchell; two granddaughters, Heather Yohn, Crystal Yohn; grandson, Justin Yohn; granddaughter, Jamie Yohn; five great-grandsons; eight great-granddaughters; several nieces and nephews. Elmore; grandchildren Sherry "Taylor" Blackwell, Brittany Nicole and Ava Marie Blackwell; and his beloved poodle, Spikey. George is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Lela Hope "Abbott" Elmore; daughters, Charlotte Coreen Blackwell and husband, Gary, Kathryn Loraine Rule and husband, H. Daniel, all of Clendenin; sisters, Ethel "Missy" Settle and Anna Hubbard, both of Charleston, Hazel Taylor and Rose King, both of Clendenin and Jane Taylor of Newton; and grandchildren, Brett and wife, Elizabeth, Haylli, Kylli, Bailey, Gabriel, Lilleigh, Christopher, Georgia and husband, Michael, Andrew, Garritt, Joshua, Dalton, Aaron and Rachel and husband, Neil. George was a hard worker and selflessly worked at an early age in order to support his family. A proud U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War, he was also a member of the Plumbers & Pipefitters Union Local 625 and Masonic Lodge 126, Clendenin. George was the owner/operator of the successful Elmore Construction and vigorously cheered on his kids and grandkids, sponsoring several Little League baseball and softball teams. George was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend to many; he never knew a stranger. He enjoyed cooking and eating ramps with Lela, "zeerbing" his grandchildren, spending time with his dog, Sassy, attending Fairview Baptist Church, and watching Judge Judy on TV. "George" "Ebry" "Daddy" and/or "Pawpaw" will be greatly missed by his family and friends. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to make a monetary donation to Fairview Memory Gardens Cemetery Fund, c/o Poca Valley Bank, P.O. Box 1235, Clendenin, WV 25045.
