Hightower Rd. Mr. Eanes was born on August 24, 1937, in Martinsville, Va., to the late John Walter Eanes and Rada C. Hensley Eanes. He worked at Miller Brewing Co. as a powerhouse operator before he retired, and he was a member of the North Danville, Church of Christ. Mr. Eanes was a 20 year veteran of the United States Navy where he was a Diesel Technician. Mr. Eanes is survived by Dorothy Eanes and step-daughter, Dale Romano; three brothers, Freddie Warren Eanes and wife, Joyce of Pittsylvania County, Jimmy Davis Eanes and wife, Karen of Greensboro, N.C., and Ernest William Eanes and wife, Nancy of Pittsylvania County, Va; sisters-in-law, Mary Jane Eanes, and Nan Hart Eanes; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Eanes was predeceased by brothers, Glenn Elwood Eanes and Robert Lee Eanes. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, September 25, 2015, at Swicegood Funeral Home with the Rev. Hersel Stone officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2015, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Swicegood Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Schoolfield Cemetery. on September 23, 2015.⁴

He was retired from Eanes Inc. and was a member of Lankford Memorial Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Survivors, in addition to his wife of the residence, include two sons, Michael Eanes of Greensboro and Thad Roberts of Brown Summit; two daughters, Jennifer Parrish and Beth Wallace, both of Level Cross; two brothers, Wayne Eanes and Fredie Eanes, both of Danville, Robert Eanes of Blanche, Ernest Eanes of Sutherlin and Jimmie Eanes of Greensboro; and five grandchildren. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Lankford Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Forbis and Dick North Elm Street Funeral Home.
