Funeral services will be held at Maple Grove Methodist Church Wednesday, July 7, 2010, at 11 a.m., with the family receiving friends one hour prior to the service. A lunch will be provided after the service for family and friends in the Fellowship Hall. A lifelong resident of Norfolk, Mrs. Gearheart was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Mrs. Gearheart was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon J. Gearheart, 20 years to the day. She was the daughter of the late Rocco and Antionette Rossano. Survivors include three daughters, Jackie Hutcheson and her husband, Ray, of Virginia Beach, Diane Yungk and her husband, Don, Joyce Barnes and her husband, Walter, all of Chesapeake; a son, Gordon "Jim" Gearheart of Norfolk; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Norfolk Chapel, by the Rev. Edward Richardson. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. in the funeral home and at 5917 Woodhaven Court, Virginia Beach, following the visitation and funeral service. on October 18, 1997.1

Ray was born in Pocomoke City, MD. Ray retired as a Stevedore with ILA Local 970; in his spare time, he loved fishing, shooting pool, cooking seafood for his family and going to the local YMCA.      Walter William "Billy" Gearheart was born circa 1938.2 He married Dolly Maxwell circa 1959.2 Walter William "Billy" Gearheart died on September 1, 2016 at Virginia.2 He Walter William (Billy) Gearheart, 78, of Roanoke, Va., passed away suddenly on Thursday, September 1, 2016. He was dedicated to his family and friends, who he dearly loved. Billy was a 1957 Jefferson High School graduate. He raised his family in Catonsville, Md., then returned to Roanoke to enjoy his retirement from Westinghouse and was an avid bridge player. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh L. and Elizabeth Smith Gearheart; biological father, Kenneth William Mottern; grandson, Robert Weckesser III; and great-grandson, Michael Joseph Goodrich. Billy is survived by his first love of 57 years, Dolly Maxwell Gearheart; daughters, Julie (Steve) Gearheart Eveland of Catonsville, Md., Deborah (Michael) Gearheart Krantz of Ferndale, Md., and Becky (Mark Shank) Gearheart Grabe of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; grandchildren, Christina Goodrich, Nicholas Eveland, Deanna Eveland and Joshua Grabe; two great-grandsons, Matthew and Tyler Goodrich; brother, Lynn (Kathy) Gearheart; sister, Nancy Gearheart Malone; and beloved nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, September 6, 2016, at Oakey's South Chapel.
