She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Short. She is survived by three sons, Russell R. Wertz, Ronald R. Wertz, Reggie R. Wertz, all of Roanoke; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Pam Tincher; one stepson, Mike Wertz, both of Roanoke; her mother, Mrs. Lucy Jane Brown, Roanoke; one sister, Mrs. Wynola Begley, Moneta; five brothers, Wayne Brown, Roanoke; Wyatt Brown, Hopewell; Wiley Brown, Deep River, Conn; Walter Brown, Warren Brown, both of W.Va; six grandchildren. Interment will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. on August 17, 1988.⁶

     Patricia Joann Harth Patricia Joan Harth Harris was born on Monday, April 17th, 1939. She passed from this world into the presence of her Savior on Sunday, May 25th, 2025, at the age of 86. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Katie Mae (Chewning) and Clayborn C. Harth, brothers Lawrence Harth and James (Jimmy) Harth, and her longtime partner, James D. Abbott. Pat grew up in Roanoke and Pearisburg, with the family settling in Roanoke permanently. She graduated from William Fleming High School in 1957. She was proud to have worked at Virginia's Explore Park following her retirement from Heironimus-Great Additions. When Pat was a teenager, she began attending Oakland Baptist Church where she was baptized. In her later years she reconnected with Oakland, attending when she was able and watching from home when she was not. She became very close to her church family and formed a closer relationship with Jesus during this time. She also loved the congregation at Lamplight Baptist Church whose pastor, Jeff Gardner, has been a close family friend for many years. She watched their service every Sunday. Pat is survived by her daughter, Pamela (Wertz) Aldridge, son, Michael Wertz, daughter Barbara (Harris) Morris, son, Kennie Harris and special niece, Debbie Pitts, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, and her special neighbor, Lucas Hinds, all of whom love her very much. Interment will be at Sherwood Memorial Park. in Salem, VA.³ She was buried at Sherwood Burial Park, 1045 Lynchburg Turnpike, Salem, Roanoke Co., Virginia.³ She was born on April 17, 1939 at Roanoke, Virginia.^1,2,3 As of May 18, 1957,her married name was Wertz.¹ She married Samuel Carson Wertz, son of Harry Preston Wertz and Lena Mae Wickham, on May 18, 1957 at York, York Co., South Carolina.¹ Patricia Joann Harth and Samuel Carson Wertz were divorced on August 4, 1964 at Roanoke, Virginia.¹ Patricia Joann Harth died on May 25, 2025 at Virginia at age 86.³
