     Connie Lucille Scott Mrs. Connie Lucille Scott Call, age 82, of Wilkesboro, widow of Howard Hubert Call beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother died Friday, May 31, 2013 at Wilkes Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM, Monday, June 3, 2013 at Oakwoods Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Duncan, Rev. Wayne Osborne and the Rev. Eddie Tharpe officiating. Burial will be in Scenic Memorial Gardens. The family will receive at Oakwoods Baptist Church from 1:00 until 2:30 prior to the service. Mrs. Call was born in Iredell County, on January 10, 1931, to James Homer and Pansy Mae Hamby Scott. Both she and her husband, Howard had their realtor's license since 1960's. They initiated state license for Day Care Centers in Wilkes County. In 1964, she established Connie's Nursery School, the first state licensed day care center in Wilkes County. In 1965, she and Howard established Call's Realty Company. They developed Country Club Road Mobile Home Park, developed Quail Hollow Estates on Brushy Mtn. Road and established Call Construction Company. In 1983, they established Circle C Christmas Tree Farm in Ashe County. Mrs. Call bought and developed the Diet Center franchises of Surry and Wilkes Counties. While a member of Wilkesboro Baptist Church, she taught Sunday school for many years. She was an active member of Oakwoods Baptist Church. Mrs. Call was recognized by NC Governor's office and received the honorary recognition the Order of the Long Leaf Pine. She was an avid member of "Victoria Bells" Red Hat Club. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Call was preceded in death by a sister, Marie Scott and a brother, Fred Fair Scott, son in law, William Watts, sister in laws, Jewel Greer Scott, Lydia Call Shew, Betty Call Grayson, Ennis Call Jarvis, Minnie Call Jarvis; brothers in law, Hartley Greene, Lyle Baker, Barney Call, Willie Call, Lawrence Call, Buster Call. Mrs. Call is survived by two daughters, Donna Call Watts of Wilkesboro and Lynne Call Cox and husband, Larry all of Wilkesboro; two sons, Hubert Dennis Call and wife, Sharon of Yadkinville and David Howard Call and wife, Linda of Claremont; three sisters, Novella Greene Baker of Manasses, VA, Willa Scott Caudill and husband, Gene of Wilkesboro, Ruby Scott Chambers of North Wilkesboro; two brothers, James Ford Scott and Bill Scott and wife, Gaynell all of Boomer; six grandchildren, Brian James Call and wife, Kimberly of Chapel Hill, Summer Lynn Watts of Dayton, OH, William Hayden Watts, II (Ty) of Wilkesboro, Cody David Call of Claremont, Jed Cockrell and wife, Jenny of North Wilkesboro, and Laura Cockrell Bonifacio and husband, Alberto of Durham; six great grandchildren, Tyler Call, Chase Call, Emilio Bonifacio, Sebastian Bonifacio, Sophia Bonifacio, and Mallary Cockrell; brother in laws, Clarence Call of Winston Salem, Buel Call and wife, Annie Mae of Wilkesboro, Harvey Chambers of Wilkesboro; several loving nieces and nephews.      Bill Scott Mr. Bill Scott, age 88 husband of Gaynell Walsh Scott of North Wilkesboro passed away Sunday, March 26, 2017 at Forsyth Medical Center. Funeral services will be held 4:00 PM, Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at Scenic Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. Horace Minton officiating. Entombment with honors by Boomer Fire Department will be in Scenic Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Mr. Scott was born November 24, 1928 in Stokes County to Homer and Pansy Hamby Scott. He was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church. He worked as a construction engineer for Broyhill Furniture for 47 years. Bill loved Boomer Fire Department and all the good it stood for. He served as President for 30 years, from 1973 until 2003 and as Vice President for 3 years, 2003 until 2006. Mr. Scott was the founding father and a life-long member of the department. He was the driving force that lead to the organization of the fire department. Bill drew the blueprints for the original fire station and worked very hard with the building committee on new ideas when it was updated in 1999. He could often be seen at the department fundraisers. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one granddaughter; Lori Ann Scott, two brothers; Fred Scott, Ford Scott and two sisters; Novella Baker, Connie Call. He is survived by his wife of 69 years; Gaynell Walsh Scott of the home, one daughter; Billie Jo Scott and fiancé; Terry Walker of North Wilkesboro, one son; Douglas Steven Scott and wife Sandra of Boomer, one granddaughter; Staci Hining and husband Kevin, three great grandchildren; Morghan Bass, Lillie Hining and Miller Hining, two sisters; Willa Dean Caudill and husband Gene and Ruby Chambers all of Wilkesboro.      Hubert Dennis Call was buried at Scenic Memorial Gardens, 545 Moravian Falls Road, Wilkesboro, Wilkes Co., North Carolina.^2,3 He Mr. Hubert Dennis Call, age 68, of Yadkinville passed away Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at Forsyth Medical Center. Funeral services will be held 12:00 PM Saturday, November 28, 2015 at Reins-Sturdivant Chapel with Rev. Robert Duncan and Rev. Ted Combs officiating. Burial will be in Scenic Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 10:30 until 11:30 AM Saturday prior to the service at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home. Mr. Call was born April 18, 1947 in Caldwell County to Howard Hubert and Connie Scott Call. He was a member of West Yadkin Baptist Church. He was the Supervisor of Operations/Maintenance at Duke Energy. He served in the Army National Guard. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife; Sharon Wright Call, one son; Brian James Call and wife Kimberly of Durham, two grandchildren; Tyler and Chase Call, two sisters; Donna Call Watts and Lynne Call Cox and husband, Larry of both of Wilkesboro, one brother; David Howard Call and wife, Linda of Claremont.      James Avery Hamby Jr. Pfafftown - After a period of declining health, Mr. James Avery Hamby, 88, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, November 30, 2009, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. Mr. Hamby was born on May 18, 1921 to James Avery Hamby, Sr. and Mattie Bradley Hamby. He spent his early life in Wilkes County, served in the U. S. Army from October, 1942 through July, 1946. He married Anita Elledge in 1950. He had the blessing of finding the love of his life and was further blessed to spend 59 years devoted to their marriage. They began raising their family of three children before moving to Forsyth County in 1954. While being a devoted and loving father, he spent many of his working years in the lumber business as the owner of Hamby Lumber Company. Later he started Hamby Trucking Company and was thankful to be able to continue working until the age of 87. He was a longtime member of Bethania Moravian Church and he loved his church family dearly. His gift of gab and zest for life were infectious to those around him. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. Mr. Hamby is survived by his wife, Anita Elledge Hamby, of the home; a daughter, Doris Doub and husband, Randall, of Pfafftown; two sons: James Edward "Eddie" Hamby and wife, Vicky, of Pfafftown and Richard Hamby of Lewisville; and two grandsons, Brian and Adam Doub of Winston-Salem. He is also survived by a sister, Beatrice Crouch of Lenoir, NC as well as several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, December 4, at Bethania Moravian Church with Rev. Wayne Byerly and Rev. Charles Fishel officiating. Burial will follow in the church graveyard. The family will receive friends at the church from 1-2:30 p.m. prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Bethania Moravian Church Building Fund or the charity of the donor's choice.
