Junior was born August 1, 1934 in Wilkes County to Howard Taft Church, Sr. and Lessie Verlie Dunn Church. He was the owner of Church’s Used Cars and a member of Lewis Fork Baptist Church. He was an avid lover of history and western movies. A good Rook game was his favorite pastime. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Madeline Church Welborn and Merle Dean Church. Junior is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jackie Winkler Church, of the home; two daughters, Denise Church Sidden of Wilkesboro and Michelle Church Isom and husband, Dale, of Wilkesboro; a son, Douglas Howard Church and Ashley of Wilkesboro; four grandchildren, Nicole Deal Slate and husband, Johnny, of Erie, PA, Dustin Deal and wife, Whitney, of Wilkesboro, Daniel Isom and Katie of Millers Creek, and Caitlen Isom Wurdeman and husband, Matthew, of Elkin; six great-grandchildren, Lilly Slate, Juliana Isom, Will Slate, Glory Maeve Deal, Maggie Slate and Mercer Deal; one sister, Kathleen Church Ellis and husband, Bill, of Wilkesboro; and several nieces and nephews.¹ He was buried at Lewis Fork Baptist Church Cemetery, 395 Lewis Fork Baptist Church Road, Purlear, Wilkes Co., North Carolina.¹ He was born on August 1, 1934 at Wilkes Co., North Carolina.¹ He married Jackie Winkler circa 1958.¹ Howard Taft "Junior" Church Jr. died on January 13, 2018 at age 83.¹

     Lawrence Edmond “Tutlum” Wolfe Mr. Lawrence “Tutlum” Edmond Wolfe, age 78, of North Wilkesboro, died Sunday, August 24, 2014 at Watauga Medical Center. He was born July 7, 1936 in Wilkes County to Lawrence Simpson and Elmina Dunn Wolfe. Mr. Wolfe was a member of Greater Vision Baptist Church and retired from NC DOT after 25 years of service. He was preceded in death by his father; his mother, Elmina Dunn Wolfe Church; his wife, Hattie Jane Anderson Wolfe; and a sister, Lucille McNeil. Surviving are his daughter, Patricia Ellen Hayworth and husband Wayde of West Jefferson; sister, Gail Williams of Wilkesboro; brother, Carl Wolfe and wife Mary Ellen of Stony Fork; two grandchildren; two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Graveside service will be held 2:00 o’clock Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at Greater Vision Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Lynn Lambert and Rev. Sherrill Wellborn officiating. Funeral services will be held at Dunkirk United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mrs. Elmore was born February 2, 1916 in Wilkes County to Charlie and Frances Johnson Dunn. She was a member of Davis Memorial Baptist Church. She is survived by: two daughters, Kay Johnson of Wilkesboro, Carolyn Sparks of Ferguson; three sons, Jimmy Elmore of Lenoir, Kenneth Elmore, Ronny Elmore both of North Wilkesboro; five sisters, Elmina church of North Wilkesboro, Ola Foster of Wilkesboro, Nell Garcia of Winston-Salem, Violet Michael, Novella Anderson both of Ferguson; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.¹ Her married name was Elmore.¹ She married George Washington Elmore.¹ Alma Mary Dunn was born on February 2, 1916 at Wilkes Co., North Carolina.^1,3 She died on August 28, 2003 at North Wilkesboro, Wilkes Co., North Carolina, at age 87.^1,3
