He was 82. Mr. Dalgarn was born May 3, 1926, in Eufaula to John and Firsey (Mitchell) Dalgarn. He had lived in Miami since 1985, moving from Bartlesville. He was a retired school teacher and had finished his career in the Bartlesville Public School System. Mr. Dalgarn was a World War II and Korean War veteran, having serving in the Army. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of the American Legion, Mulvane Masonic Lodge, Witchita Scottish Rite Consistory and Miadian Shrine Temple in Wichita. Kan. He married Mary Haner on Nov. 24, 1948, in Fort Smith, Ark. She survives, of the home. Additional survivors include a son, John Dalgarn and his wife Joyce of Miami, and two grandsons, John Dalgarn Jr. of Miami and Joe Dalgarn of Pittsburg, Kan. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Fort Gibson National Cemetery in Fort Gibson. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Miami. on August 11, 2008.4

Mae has joined her 10 brothers, Billy, Archie, Melton, Eugene, Alfred, John, Lovell, Carl, Emmett and Louis; sister, daughter, Sandra Kaye; and son, Richard in her heavenly home. She had 5 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren whom loved her dearly. William Strother Norris William Strother Norris, Aug 22, 1925 - Feb 9, 2024. We are sad to announce that William S. Norris passed peacefully from this life the afternoon of 9 February 2024 at Memorial Hospital of Tampa after a gradual decline in health. He was 98 years old. He was surrounded and supported by his loving family and caregivers during the last days of his life. Bill was born in Bowling Green, KY on August 22, 1925, to James Norris and Eva (Haycraft). Bill worked hard all his young life and received his 'greetings' for WWII on his 18th Birthday! Upon returning he traveled working as a Big Crane Operator for over 40 years Retiring to care for his loving wife Ruth who preceded him in death. He loved his children and grandchildren dearly. He has impacted many people in his long and fulfilled lifetime. Bill was a WWII Army Veteran of Pacific Theatre, retired Crane operator Local 132 International Union Operating Engineers, Founding member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, American Legion Post 39 Member, and a 32nd Degree Mason (Master Mason). Uncle Bill never met a stranger and loved going out and talking to people. He listened more than he spoke, but when he did speak you could bet it would be worth hearing. He was a great man and will surely be missed. He is survived by his daughter Linda Baylis; 3 grandchildren: Heather Jones (Robert), Heath Jones (Megan), Hilary Jones; one great grandchild, Hayden Jones; his nephews: Larry Norris (Karen), Terry Norris (Ginger), Joe Hamilton III (KimberLee) and one niece Barbara Fouts. He was preceded in death by his wife Ruth, daughter Billie Gail, Brother Noble, Sisters Elsie Hamilton and Bobbie Edwards.3 He married Ruth Mae Smith, daughter of Thomas John "Tom" Smith and Margaret Cynthia Alley.4,5,3 William Strother Norris was born on August 22, 1925 at Bowling Green, Warren Co., Kentucky.3,6 He died on February 9, 2024 at Tampa, Hillsborough Co., Florida, at age 98.3

Van Alton Trail Van A. Trail, 88 of Hinton passed away Thursday November 14, 2013 at Summers County A.R.H. following a short illness. He was born April 13, 1925 at Indian Mills, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Dr. and Mrs. William Trail. He was preceded in death by a sister, Genevieve Farley and three brothers, Don R. Trail, Virgil Trail and an infant William Trail. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Mary S. “Tommy” Trail. Son, Stephen D. Trail of Hinton and daughters, Marilyn Kay Meador & husband Kenneth of Jumping Branch and Vana K. Trail of Beckley. Grandson, Stephen Douglas Trail, Jr. of Hinton and granddaughter, Alison Paige Steele of Durham, NC and his best friend, Heidi, his miniature schnauzer. Van was a retired Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army and served in World War II. He was a member of LCI 320 at the Normandy Invasion and was serving in Japan when the war ended. He also served as Commanding Officer of the Hinton National Guard before accepting a position at the Pentagon. He was a graduate of the War College at Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas and also Commander of the Officers Candidate School at Washington, DC. Van was a graduate of Talcott High School and was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed working on his farm for many years during his retirement. Burial will follow in Restwood Memorial Gardens in Hinton. Danny Jay Smith Danny J. Smith, 75 of Pipestem, passed away Saturday February 11, 2023 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley following a long illness. Born November 16, 1947 in Hinton, he was the son of the late John and Corrine Bryson Smith. Danny was a retired Deputy Sheriff for St. Lucie County, Florida. He was a member of Pipestem Southern Baptist Church and enjoyed deer hunting and loved watching television. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Gore. Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Roberta Stewart Smith; one daughter, Kimberly Hoff and husband Marcos of Palm Bay, FL; two grandchildren, Madelyn Hoff and friend Bryan Kelley and Jason Hoff. Stephanie Rene Gore Stephanie Rene Gore went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 5, 2024 at the age of 61. Born on November 22, 1962 in Hinton, WV, she was the daughter of the late Franklin Delano Gore and Patricia Ruth Smith Gore. Stephanie graduated from Hinton High School in 1981 and proudly served her country in the US Army shortly after. She was a devout Christian and attended Pipestem Southern Baptist Church. Stephanie was a big history buff and very passionate about politics. She was always compassionate and kind towards everyone but had an especially tender heart towards animals. It was not unusual to find her taking care of injured animals or strays ranging from turtles to dogs. Besides her parents, Franklin and Patricia Gore, she was preceded in death by a brother, John Gore. Those left to cherish her memory include her sister, Jackie Gore of Hinton, WV; brother Michael Gore (Cynthia) of Hinton, WV; special nephews, Zack and Alex Kennedy of Wilmington, NC; special friend, Mary Cline; beloved feline, Iggy; several other nieces and nephews also survive including Tyler and Bryce Gore and Megan Gore.2 She was born on November 22, 1962 at Hinton, Summers Co., West Virginia.2 She died on May 5, 2024 at West Virginia at age 61.2
