James was born in Clarksville, OK to James William and Myrtle (Brandon) Hayner. He was married to Orene Thomas Hayner on July 5, 1941. He enlisted in the Army in September 1940 and was discharged in July 1945. He served with the 45th Infantry as combat infantry man serving in Sicily, Naples, Foggia Southern France, Rome, Arno Rhineland and central Europe. He received the Good Conduct Medal, The EAME Service Ribbon with one Silver Service Star, one Bronze Service Star, one Bronze Arrowhead and American Defense Service Ribbon. Following the war, James and Orene established their home in Muskogee where they reared their two daughters, Karren and Diane. He retired from Fansteel Metallurgical Corp. in 1980. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and a Mason of Oriental Lodge #430, AF&AM. James was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters, and three brothers. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Orene; their two daughters and husbands, Karren and Jimmy Rogers of Muskogee and Diane and Kent Taylor of Tulsa; his grandaughters, Kathy (Paul) Keeling and Kristy (Dan) Newell and great grandchildren, Kit, Kase and Kale Keeling and Karlie and Klaire Newell; one sister, Mary (John) Dalgarn of Miami, OK and numerous nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 21, 2007, at the Bradley Belltower Chapel with Pastor Steve Alexander of New Hope Baptist Church officiating.⁵ His Social Security Number was 441-16-8364.³ He was born on January 5, 1915 at Clarksville, Wagoner Co., Oklahoma.^3,4,5,6 He married Frances Orene Thomas on July 5, 1941.⁵ James Clifford Hayner died on November 19, 2007 at Claremore, Rogers Co., Oklahoma, at age 92.^3,5,6
