Mr. Tapscott was born March 2, 1927, in Barnard, Mo. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and also served in the U.S. Coast Guard. He owned and operated Cleo's Auto Service and was a mechanic for various dealers. He was a past master of East Gate Lodge 630, was past patron of Order of the Eastern Star 367 and a member of the Scottish Rite, York Rite, Ararat Shrine and the American Legion. He was an avid outdoorsman and showed English Pointers and Tennessee Walking Horses. He was preceded in death by his parents. His survivors include his wife of 52 years, Dorothy Tapscott; a son, Jerold Tapscott and wife, Vicki, and a sister, Velma Gigliotti, all of Kansas City; two grandsons, Jerrod and Jason; and many nieces and nephews. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Charter Funerals, Kansas City. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Kansas City. on January 15, 2004.5

Jerry was born on Sept. 3, 1953 to Cleo & Dorothy (Tripses) Tapscott in Kansas City, MO, where he spent his life. He graduated from Van Horn High School, attended Longview Community College and received a degree in Civil Engineering from Iowa State University in 1977. Jerry worked for the Cities of Independence & Kansas City as a supervisor in Street & Traffic; retiring after 28 years of service. He was an Eagle Scout, a Sachum in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say, assistant Scout Master for Troop #21, Cub Master for Pack #21, and District Member at-large for Pioneer Trails District. He was a member of the East Gate Lodge #630, the Travelers Club, the Scottish Rite, Ararat Shrine, OED Chapter #367, and active in many professional Engineering Societies. Jerry was an avid bowler, participating in ABC Tournaments for over 25 years. He loved the outdoors, camping at H. Roe Bartle, hunting and reading. Jerry belonged to Mt. Washington United Methodist Church and their choir. Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Cleo, and his grandparents. He is survived by his wife, Lisa, of the home; sons, Jerrod and Jason; his step-son, Charlie Kessler; his mother, Dorothy; a granddaughter, Gabrielle; as well as many relatives and friends. The family would like to express a special thank you to the caregivers at the Hospice House and many friends. His loving ways and contagious smile will be greatly missed. on April 5, 2011.2

Survivors included their four children and their spouses, Deborah (Bob) Konopasek, Blue Springs, MO, Mike (Jane) Wynne, Overland Park, KS, Mark (Virginia) Wynne, Cedar Rapids, IA, and Penny (Mike) Berrey of Purcell, OK, and nine grandchildren. on January 7, 2007.4

     Dennis Oliver "Dee" Jesseph Dennis "Dee" Oliver Jesseph, 84, former Piqua, Kansas area resident and presently of Miami, Oklahoma died Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at his home. Dee was born May 15, 1925, in Iola, Kansas, the son of Albert O. and Amanda L. (Dennis) Jesseph. He was an engineer while serving in the European and Pacific Theatre with the United States Army during World War II. His platoon built bridges during the war and worked on a bridge over the Rhine River in Germany. On January 11, 1947, Dee married Peggy Ann Tripses in Iola. They lived in Sedgwick, Newton and Geneseo before moving to a farm near Piqua in 1986. Over the years he worked as a ranch hand, policeman, security officer, truck driver, mechanic and oil field worker. His wife preceded him in death on January 31, 2000. On July 14, 2000 he married Nancy (Mead) Jennings and they made their home in Miami, Oklahoma. He was a former member of the American Legion in Geneseo. SURVIVORS: Wife: Nancy; 3 Sons: Dennis & wife, Pamela of Little River, KS; Sam of Piqua, KS; and Carl & wife Robin of Chase, KS; 3 Daughters: Diana Schmidt & husband, Ernest of Delia, KS; Ella Jesseph of Great Bend, KS; and Amanda Butts & husband, Chuck of Lyons, KS; 3 Step-Daughters: Faye & Lynette of Miami, OK; and Linda of Tulsa, OK; 18 Grandchildren, 22 Step-Grandchildren, 19 Great Grandchildren and 20 Step-Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, John Wayne and two stillborn sons, two brothers, Henry and Albert, two sisters, Margaret and Martha, a granddaughter, Jenny Jesseph, and three step-sons, Robert, James and Darrell. FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 26, 2009, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel in Iola, Kansas. The Rev. Bruce Winch will officiate.
