SARASOTA - A father and son will be buried side by side this afternoon without either ever having known the other is dead. Jerry Hinkle, 15, drowned late Tuesday in a man made pond in front of his home at 2395 N. Tuttle Ave. while helping to save a younger brother. The lather, John Hinkle, 40, died in a Miami hospital Thursday morning when complications developed following a delicate heart operation. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. at the Leisure Lakes Tabernacle. Burial will be in Sarasota Memorial Park. The Rev. Gerald Durstiue will officiate. Sarasota citizens have rallied to give financial support to the mother and three children surviving in the Hinkle family. Students of Bay Haven School have collected more than $364 and the South Side School has a sealed envelope containing contributions. Reverend Durst ine said he has taken money and food to the family and clothing has been donated. A collection jar has been placed in the Publix Market in the Ringling Shopping Center and a meeting between Reverend Durstine and donors at the Ray Haven School was scheduled to coordinate the efforts. on April 30, 1960.5
