Born on May 26, 1926, at Speedway, she was the daughter of the late Dean Addison and Bonnie May Snider. Mrs. Stump was a devoted and caring wife, mother grandmother and friend. She was a member for many years with the Princeton Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses and was currently a member with the North Run Congregation in Richmond. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband William Monroe "Bill" Stump, two sisters, Mildred Hill and Ruth Six, along with one brother, Spencer Snider. Mrs. Stump is survived by two daughters; Joyce Gooding and husband Ray, Dottie Carmon and husband David, all of Glen Allen, Va; two sons, David Stump and wife Ruby, and Ronnie Stump and wife Dawn, all of Princeton; three grandsons, Michael Carmon and wife Rosalind of Williamsburg, Va., Adam Carmon and wife Hope, and Douglas Gooding, all of Glen Allen; two granddaughters, Shawna Griffith and husband Bryan of Princeton, and Angel Smith and husband Steven of Bluefield; one great-grandson, Zachary Carmon of Williamsburg, Va; two sisters, Helen Lilly of Lerona and Betty Patterson and husband Lawrence of Glen Allen; three brothers, Mason Snider and wife Betty of Speedway, Curtis Snider and wife Helen of Ashland, Va., and Perry Snider of Richmond, and a host of nieces and nephews. Services for Mrs. Stump will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 11, 2007 from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Eddie Wimmer as the speaker. Interment will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens on the Courthouse Road in Princeton. Serving as pallbearers will be Danny Fox, Mike Wimmer, Bill Wilkerson, Ben Wilkerson, Devin Wilkerson, Dennis Williams and Douglas Gooding. on October 9, 2007.4

Joyce was born in Princeton, W.Va., to William and Mary Stump. After high school, she moved to Richmond, Va., where she met and married Ray Gooding, her husband of 50 years. The two moved to Glen Allen, where they raised their son, Douglas Gooding. Joyce was a devoted member of the Greenwood Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. In her spare time, she loved collecting dolls and working in the yard on her flowers. Joyce was one of the strongest and most caring people you could ever meet. Although challenged constantly by health issues, she never let that keep her from taking care of her family, friends and anyone who needed help. She will be sorely missed by all that knew her. Joyce is survived by her husband, Ray Gooding; son, Douglas Gooding; brothers, David Stump (Ruby) and Ronnie Stump (Dawn); sister, Dorothy Carmon (Dave). The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 4, 2019, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Road. Funeral service will be held at Woody's on Wednesday, June 5, followed immediately by interment in Westhampton Memorial & Cremation Park, 10000 Patterson Avenue. on June 2, 2019.4

She left this life to join Him early Wednesday morning, December 18. Born October 3, 1931, she fought the good fight and kept the faith. She leaves behind her loving husband of over 64 years, Wilmer Harris of Bluefield, Virginia and two daughters, Debbie Bowling of Bluefield, West Virginia and Bernice Jacobe of Salisbury, North Carolina. She also leaves four brothers and their families: Thurman and Bonnie Wray of Floyd, Virginia; Herman and Eileen Wray of Linesville, Alabama; Charlie and Sette Wray of Sherburne, New York; and Herbert and Judy Wray of Vinton, Virginia. Her brother Rufus predeceased her. Her four sisters and their families, Ruth and Russell Young of Roanoke, Virginia; Corinne and R.K. Albert of Vinson, Virginia; Mary and Harold Mullens of Ferrum, Virginia; and Wanda Nolley of Pilot, Virginia will also miss her. She was “Memaw” and “Mother” to her four grandchildren, along with their families, Ann Leveille (Doylestown, PA), Adam Bowling (Dublin, VA), Jakki Coll (Cleveland, NC) and David Jacobe (Salisbury, NC). She had taken great joy in watching her five great-grandchildren (Lolo, Julian, Zak, Jess and Lydia) grow. It was important to spend time with them whenever they came home to visit at Christmas and during the summer. She spent her life making a home for her family, and later welcoming friends and family to visit as often as possible. She enjoyed going to their camper at Claytor Lake during the spring and summer months and spending time with her friends there. She enjoyed cooking and her flowers and going to yard sales. Her friends at church and her neighbors were all important to her. She was always willing to lend a helping hand in any situation any way she could. She will be greatly missed by those left behind, but we all wish her the VERY BEST Christmas yet and look forward to seeing her again soon. Dennis was born Aug. 14, 1947, in Scranton, Pa., and in 1964, he graduated from Bishop Dennis J O'Connell High School in Arlington, Va. He went on to graduate from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Va., with a Bachelor's degree of Economics in 1968 and his Ph.D. in Public Choice Policy in 1971. Dennis joined the U.S. Army in 1968. Dennis was a Professor of Economics at Arkansas College and later the Vice President of Research at the U.S. League of Savings and Loan. He was the co-chairman of the Financial Research Institute in Arlington, Va., until joining the Gallup Organization in 1994, becoming Chief Economist. Dennis was looking forward to seeing his parents, Joseph and Ann Jacobe, his brother Kevin Jacobe and grandmother in Heaven. He leaves behind a large family, including his beloved wife of over 43 years, Bernice. Dennis leaves one son, David Jacobe of Salisbury; and daughter Ann and her husband Martin Leveille, their sons Julian and Zachary and their daughters Lydia and Laurence, of Doylestown, Pa; and daughter Jakki and her husband John Coll IV and their daughter Jessica, of Cleveland. Dennis also leaves three brothers, John of Ruther Glen, Va., Brian of Reston, Va., and James of Sykesville, Md. Dennis was a loving and dedicated husband and father. He enjoyed reading, watching British mysteries, walking his dog Max, boating on the lake, research and writing and spending time with his family. He especially loved family get-togethers and doing fireworks in July. He and his dog Max were the best of friends. Visitation and Service: The family will receive friends Wednesday, Sept. 25 at Powles Funeral Home, at 913 W. Main St., in Rockwell, from 5 to 7 p.m. There will be a funeral service on Thursday, Sept. 26 at High Rock Church East Campus, 7800 Bringle Ferry Road in Salisbury, NC, at 11 a.m. Services will be conducted by Ronnie Pinyan, Pastor. Burial will follow with military honors. on September 25, 2013.2
