The Raleigh County coroner's report was not available at presstime. He had been employed by Slab Fork Coal Co. for 18 years and for the past seven years was a foreman. Polk was a member of the Slab Fork Mine Rescue Squad. Born Nov, 14, 1937 in Sophia, he was a son of Mrs. Margarette Lilly Polk, Sophia, and the late Daniel Polk. Additional survivors include his wife, Sharon Dombrowski Polk; two sons, Douglas Jr. and David, both at home; a daughter, Kathy, at home, and his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Lula Lilly, Sophia. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesday. Pallbearers will be Jerry Wood, Tom Gillespie, Larry Smith, Fred Brown, Adrain McKenney and Howard Akers. on July 29, 1974.4

He married Jeri Radford, who survives in Nashville. Doughty worked at Stark and Wetzel Inc. in Indianapolis for 25 years, and later owned the Country Is shop in Nashville. He was a veteran of the Navy Reserve, having served from 1953 to 1954. Other survivors include four daughters, Sherri Beck of Indianapolis, Kelly Rapp of St. Louis, Missouri, and Teresa Doughty and Stacy Doughty Hall, both of Nashville; two sons, Kerry of Nashville and Bill Doughty of Sparta, Michigan; and three sisters, Donna Wuerzburger of California, and Jerri Cain and Sharon Fraze, both of Memphis, Tennessee; 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Burial was in Greenlawn Cemetery. on November 23, 2005.4
