Mr. Johnson worked for Chrysler for 31 years before his retirement in 2002. He had a heart of gold and worked on his neighbors' homes and cars whenever they had a need. He enjoyed vacationing in Florida, working on classic cars, gardening, dining out, and watching old John Wayne movies as well as the old Star Trek series. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Mr. Johnson is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Mae Johnson; daughter, Jennifer Anient and husband David; mother, Bonnie Johnson; brothers, Thomas R. Johnson and wife Cathy, and Robert B. Johnson; sisters, Judy Cole and husband Lee, and Louise Brenner; only grandson, David; and a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph O. Johnson; brother and his wife, Charles E. Johnson and Dorothy. Burial will be in Hickory Grove Cemetery, Port Penn. on October 17, 2012.⁴

He was a 1981 graduate of Bluefield High School. He was employed by A.B. Wholesale Inc. in Bluefield, Va., as a truck driver.
