Huckleberry, 62, a retired Indianapolis Public Schools economics teacher and former Westfield school principal, died Tuesday at Community Hospital North, Indianapolis. He was the first president of the Indianapolis Education Association. A teacher at Manual, Shortridge and Broad Ripple high schools, he retired in 1991 after 25 years with IPS. Previously, he had worked nine years in the Westfield Washington School System in Hamilton County, where he had been a principal. He was a graduate of Butler University and received a master's degree from Indiana University. He was a Navy veteran and a member of Windfall Masonic Lodge. Burial will be in Carmel Cemetery.
