     Wesley E. Stenger was buried at Baxter Springs Cemetery, 2500 West Highway 166, Baxter Springs, Cherokee Co., Kansas.2 He Wes Ed Stenger, age 88, of Riverton, KS passed from this life Saturday, August 21, 2010. Wes was born August 27, 1921 in Houston, Missouri to Fred and Flora (Phillips) Stenger. He graduated from High School in Houston, MO and then joined the Army. He was stationed at Camp Carson in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where he met Phyllis Elaine Littrel. After serving in WWII for nearly 4 years, he returned to Colorado Springs and married Phyllis on March 20, 1946. Wes worked as a C.P.A. for the Free Press newspaper. Their daughters, Janice and Sheryl, and son, Mark, were born there. In 1968 they moved to Baxter Springs, KS where their daughter, Beckey, was born. After Phyllis passed away in 1982, Wes married Grace Cochran, a lifelong acquaintance from Houston, MO on July 21, 1984 in Baxter Springs, KS. He worked for and retired from LaBarge, Inc. in Joplin. Wes served on the board of the Rural Water District #3 for 20 years. He was also an avid gardener. Wes was a member of the Riverton Friends Church of Riverton, Kansas. Survivors include two daughters, Sheryl Mallory and husband, Art, of Baxter Springs, KS. and Janice McCaslin and husband, Jim, of Oklahoma City, OK and one son, Mark Stenger, of Huntsville, AL, one sister, Betty Shoush, of Strafford, MO, and one brother, John Stenger, of Houston, MO. Wes had three grandchildren and four great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death were his parents, his first wife Phyllis, his daughter Beckey, one sister Hazel Scharnhorst, and one brother Will Stenger.3 He was born on August 27, 1921 at Houston, Harris Co., Texas.2,3 He married Phyllis Elaine Littrel, daughter of Elmer Carl Littrel and Estella C. "Stella" Miller, on March 20, 1946 at Colorado Springs, El Paso Co., Colorado.1,3 Wesley E. Stenger died on August 21, 2010 at Cherokee Co., Kansas, at age 88.2,3
