     Ira Henry Poage Ira Henry Poage, 79, of Roanoke went to live at that little spot in Heaven with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Tuesday August 26, 2014, as he had been promised many years ago. He made this transition at the exemplary Virginia Veterans Care Center while holding the hand of his beloved wife of 45 years, Audra Metz Poage. Ira was born on August 28, 1933 in Roanoke County to Walter and Alice Muse Poage. Ira served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, and was wounded while in Suma, Japan. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Salem, VA. and unfortunately had to retire in 1975 due to his military disabilities. He was a member of Haran Baptist Church where he worshipped the Lord. Audra and the family would like to express many thanks to the wonderful Virginia Veterans Care Center that helped him through his many illnesses during his stay there.      Richard Madison Newcomb Sr. was buried at Godwin Cemetery, Fincastle, Botetourt Co., Virginia.⁶ He Richard M. Newcomb, age 93, passed away Tuesday June 17, 2025 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born April 4, 1932 in Fincastle Virginia to the late Marshall Newcomb and Ethel Hutchinson Newcomb. He grew up on a dairy farm in Fincastle VA with his mother and brothers and grandparents. He always excelled in school and graduated with honors and went on to Virginia Tech in Agricultural Engineering. He was a 1st lieutenant in the Army, stationed in North Carolina, Korea and France. After his service he went on to obtain a BS Degree in Chemistry and worked for Eli Lilly and Elizabeth Arden. After retirement he became a Tax Consultant and earned his Master’s in Business Administration from Liberty University working into his late 70’s. He loved his wife and children, loved the Lord and had a strong faith in Jesus, He lived his life not wavering in his beliefs. He was a Deccan and member of Hollins Road Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, Richard is preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Mary Sue Newcomb; Three Brothers, Frank Newcomb, Donald Newcomb, Charles Newcomb; Two Sons, Richard Newcomb Jr, Carl Newcomb. He is survived by Children: Susan Newcomb Conner, Gloria Newcomb Brown, Keith Newcomb, Chris Newcomb, and Beverly Moore; Grandchildren: Theresa Tucker, Aaron Conner, Michael Conner, Alzedo Brown, Kaily Martinod, Preston Newcomb, Austen Smith, Zoe Egesdal, and Sarah Moore; Great-Grandchildren: Charlotte Tucker, Randolph Leon Tucker, Brixley Brown, Waylen Brown, Ezra Martinod, Eloise Martinod, Elliott Smith, Theo Egesdal, and Winona Egesdal.      Jeffrey N. "Jeff" Eller Jeffrey N. Eller, Mar 3, 1952 - Jun 23, 2015. An avid motorcyclist, Jeff quietly and peacefully embarked on his ride of the endless highway in the sky on June 23, 2015. Beloved husband of Stayce, he also leaves behind his Mom, Ida; Sister, Carol; 5 nieces, and much extended family. Jeff was a pharmacist, co-worker, mentor, counselor, traveler, dreamer, inventor, sports fan, but most of all, friend to many, recently celebrating 21 years as a friend of Bill W. She was a member of the Iron Gate Baptist Church and a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Alvis Boyd. She is survived by her husband of 32 years, James Leroy Boyd, Sr; a son, James (Jamie) Leroy Boyd, Jr. and companion Bobbie Jo Morrison; a daughter; Alexis (Lexi) Grace Boyd; a grandson, James Leroy (Lee) Boyd III; a brother, Mark S.      Eva Beatrice Downey Eva Beatrice Downey Ross Newcomb, 83, of The Woodlands, Clifton Forge and formerly of 293 Fieldale Road, Eagle Rock, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 6, 2011. Eva was of the Advent Christian faith. She was born September 8, 1928 in Alleghany County to the late Charles Russell Downey and Clara Rickman Downey. She was a retired molder of 36 years with the former H.O. Canfield Company of Iron Gate. Eva was preceded in death by her husband Charles Edward Newcomb, who passed away July 20, 2005. They met again in Heaven on their 42nd Wedding Anniversary. She was also preceded in death by three of her brothers: Ashton Downey, Olen Downey, and Bill Downey as well as a sister Nancy Downey Morton; and her first husband, Ollie William Ross. Mrs. Newcomb was the devoted, loving mother to her six surviving children: Judy Ross Humphreys and husband Raymond of Clifton Forge; Shirley Lowe and friend Clyde Boardwine of Lebanon; Jerry Ross, Sr. and wife Brenda of Eagle Rock; Larry Ross and wife Lolita of Eagle Rock; Eddie Newcomb of Eagle Rock; and Debbie Boardwine and husband Brian of Lebanon. Also, a sister Hester “Jimmy” Fisher of Williamsburg, and a brother, Raymond Downey and wife Gladys of Clifton Forge. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Bobby Humphreys of Cloverdale; Angela Johnson and husband Eugene of Vinton, Jerry Ross, Jr. “Buddy” and wife Kathy of Eagle Rock, Cheryl H. McWilliams and husband Jeff of Massanutten, Crystal Craig of Boones Mill, and Teresa H. Windsor and husband Steve of Eagle Rock. Eva is also survived by nine great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews. Until we meet again, Eva will be genuinely missed. She is remembered by her family as a loving, caring, selfless, and high-spirited lady. She was an excellent cook and baker and shared with others her gift of hospitality.
