They were her joy. “Venie” was loved by all who knew her. She was a lifelong member of the Hepzibah Baptist Church, where she served as youth advisor, Sunday School teacher and had a passion for missions. Alvenia was a 1935 graduate of Victory High School and loved going to her reunions. She served her country during World War II with the United States Army, Women’s Army Corps (WAC). For 26 years, she served her community at the Shinnston Post Office. She was also a member of the Women’s Club of Shinnston and the Order of the Eastern Star. She will be greatly missed, as she made this world a much better place. “Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven.” Matthew 5:12. Interment will be in the Shinnston Masonic Cemetery, where full military graveside rites will be accorded. on February 15, 2009.4

She is survived by her children, Ruby and Clinton St. Clair, Lucille Huffman and late husband Richard, Shirley Paitsel, Margaret Paitsel, Kenny and Linda Paitsel, Harriet Medley and late husband Wendell, Oneta and Daryl Toler and Diane and Leonard Ray; 18 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; special niece Betty June McMahan; and friend and physician Dr. Gene Godwin. Interment will follow at Huffman Memorial Park.4 She was born on February 19, 1914 at Craig Co., Virginia.1 As of July 18, 1931,her married name was Paitsel.3 She married James Edward Paitsel on July 18, 1931 at Craig Co., Virginia.3,6,7,4 Alva Norine Hutchinson died on April 14, 2004 at New Castle, Craig Co., Virginia, at age 90.1,4,8,6
