He married Lula Elizabeth Neal, daughter of Ira Garfield Neal and Bessie Lee Stewart, on December 1, 1940 at Seaford, Sussex Co., Delaware.^4,5,2,6,3 Charles Roessler LeCompte died on August 7, 2000 at Hampton, Virginia, at age 82.³ He Charles Roessler "Hampton Cat" LeCompte passed away at his home Monday, Aug. 7, 2000. He was a member of the Lower United Methodist Church of Middlesex County. He faithfully attended First Friends Church of Hampton for many years. Mr. LeCompte was a member of the St. Tammany Masonic Temple Lodge 5 in Hampton, a member of the Peninsula CB Club, the Moose Lodge and the Peninsula Amateur Radio Club. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lula Elizabeth Neal LeCompte; his mother, Irene Sanders; his father, Charles S. LeCompte; and a brother, Herman LeCompte. Mr. LeCompte is survived by his daughter, Linda LeCompte, of Salem; a sister, Alma Endsley, and her husband, Robert, of Gainesville, Ga; a granddaughter, Kelly L. Schuellein, and her husband, Dr. Paul R. Schuellein, of Rocky Mount, Va; a grandson, James Neal Insley, and his wife, Madelyn, of Virginia Beach; and three great-grandchildren, James Eric Schuellein, Brian Andrew Schuellein and Heidi Elizabeth Schuellein, all of Rocky Mount, Va. He is also survived by his loving and devoted companion, Jeannette Eva Phillips of Hampton. The entombment will take place with Masonic rites in Parklawn Memorial Park. on August 8, 2000.³

Mr. Delk retired as a welder from Newport News Shipbuilding in 1972 after 39 years of service. Survivors include his wife, Lelia M. Delk; five sisters, two brothers, one daughter, Wilma J. Lerch, of Newport News; two step-daughters, Alma Bonniwell and Betty Winstead; one son, Keith Delk, of Hampton; one granddaughter, Linda Austin; 18 other grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held in Williamsburg Memorial Park. on November 20, 1994.⁴

     Dallen Keith Delk Sr. was buried at Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene, Abilene, Jones Co., Texas.² He was born on August 7, 1938 at Newport News, Virginia.^2,6,8 He married Helen Fay Smith on October 5, 1955 at Elizabeth City, Pasquotank Co., North Carolina.⁷ Dallen Keith Delk Sr. and Helen Fay Smith were divorced on September 16, 1960 at Newport News, Virginia.¹¹ Dallen Keith Delk Sr. married Patricia Jane Lewis on October 21, 1960 at Newport News, Virginia.^2,3,6 Dallen Keith Delk Sr. died on May 19, 2018 at Texas at age 79.^1,2 He Dallen Keith "Bucky" Delk, Sr., August 7, 1938 - May 19, 2018. Our beloved husband, father and brother advanced to his heavenly home on May 19, 2018. He is preceded in death by his father, George William Delk, his mother, Irene Alois Collier, and his sister, Ann D. Collier. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Patricia Lewis Delk of 57+ years; five children, Dallen Keith Delk, Jr. (Judy), Crystal Faye Delk, Serina Millette Fairchilds (David), Eric Neal Delk (Kathy), Philip Lee Delk (Caryn); 13 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, his sister, Wilma Jean Lerch and extended family and friends.      Patricia Jane Lewis Patricia Lewis Delk, 82, of Abilene completed life’s journey on April 13, 2023 surrounded by her family. A Graveside Committal will be held at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Abilene. Patricia was born on August 8, 1940, to the late Carson Worth Lewis and Faye (Buckner) Lewis in Weaverville, North Carolina. Patricia was born into a loving home and tight-knit family circle where music was always a part. During her childhood, her parents and extended family members, especially her grandfather, instilled values such as hard work, love, and faith, which was the foundation of her life. As a young adult, she moved to Virginia, to be with her sister, and met Dallen Keith Delk, whom she married on October 21, 1960. This union of love and devotion lasted 57 years until Dallen's passing in 2018. The family grew, and they welcomed five children while Patricia balanced her career, church, and community outreach. After a productive career, she retired as a Deputy Clerk from the Newport News Juvenile Domestic Relations Court. Patricia's faith was the cornerstone of her life. She was a longtime member of Providence Free Will Baptist Church in Hampton, Virginia. She and Dallen served faithfully in many capacities. She found great joy teaching the ladies Ruth Sunday School Class for many years. Upon relocating to Abilene in 2017, she joined Trinity Baptist Church. Patricia was known as a virtuous woman with a servant's heart. She created many special memories with her family and friends through the years. While her passing leaves a void, we find peace in the words of her favorite hymns, "It is Well With My Soul". She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Dallen Keith Delk, Sr; her siblings, Eunice Edwards, Peggy Edwards, Alvin Lewis, and Jerry Dale Lewis. Ms. Edgerton is survived by her children, Ira Neal and wife, Lori, Tanis Mowery and husband, Lee, Ronald Edgerton, Ralph Yeatts and wife, Debbie, Faye Grant and husband, Tommy, William Edgerton and wife, Gwen, Joyce Laslo and husband, Steve; 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-great-grandchild; also her very close and dear friends, Lois and Tom Manning of Hampton, and Louise Oliver of Newport News. She was born in Eure, NC to the late Clifton and Winnie Eure and was a member of Green Lakes Baptist Church. She is predeceased by her first husband of 40 years, Windell C. Draper; her second husband of 16 years, Raymond J. Neal; and a grandson, Brian T. BrisBois. She is survived by her three daughters, Cheryl Whitmore and husband William, Terri Sanderlin and husband Ben and Peggy Santa and husband Jack; a sister, Phyllis Anderson; four grandchildren, Christy Mason and husband Brian, Scott BrisBois and wife Jennifer, Karen Roberts and Courtney Roberts; and three great grandchildren, Zachary and Trevor Mason and Brian G. BrisBois. The family would like to thank two faithful and loving caregivers, Jennifer Johnson and Lisa Garza. Carr, 88, of the 200 block of N. George Washington Highway, died Feb. 8, 1996, in Chesapeake Hospital. Mr. Carr, a retired foreman of Norfolk and Western Railroad, was a member of Indiana United Methodist Church. He was an honorary 50-year member of the Methodist Men, chaplain of the Deep Creek Senior Citizens Club and Woodman of The World in Walters. Mr. Carr was a native of Isle of Wight County. Survivors include his wife, Nora Stephens Carr; a stepson, Kenny Stephens and his family, all of Chesapeake; and a number of nieces and nephews; two brothers, Warren Carr of Chesapeake and Wilson Carr of Walters.
