(Eddie) Shepherd, of Roanoke; son, Roy Warner (Debbie) Keaton, of Roanoke; daughters, Denise S. (Bob) Runnicles, of Delray Beach, Fla; son, Cody L. Starr, of Roanoke; her beloved adopted daughter and caregiver, Donna Ibrahim, of Roanoke; nine grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews treasured in her heart for their love and attention. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Gentle Shepherd Hospice and wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Gentle Shepherd Hospice for their outstanding love and care. We also will never be able to thank Donna Ibrahim enough for her dedication and sacrifices made in Lucy's care. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, January 16, 2010, at Oakey's South Chapel followed by a Memorial Service at noon on Saturday to be officiated by the Rev. He was retired from the city of Boynton Beach, Fla. as Chief Plumbing Inspector for 23 years. He was a devoted husband and the true love of his wife who survives him, Lucy Mae Persing. He is also survived by his stepchildren, Gaye Nell Shepherd, Denise Runnicles, Cody Langdon Starr, Roy Keaton; children, Dwayne Persing, Kim Persing and Carl Persing; numerous grandchildren; sisters, Norma Trice, Beverly Leonard, Janet Johnson, Peggy Ivy and Roberta Kelly. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 2 p.m. Thursday, with interment to follow in Mountain View Memorial Park. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Wednesday with his family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Flora Funeral Service, S. Main Street, Rocky Mount. on December 25, 2001.²

Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Community Chapel Church, Cross Lanes, with the Rev. William Layne Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes. on June 17, 2000.³
