David Weatherspoon Montgomery was born on February 27, 1937 at Guilford Co., North Carolina.2 He married Elizabeth Jeanne Thorp, daughter of Harold Stratton Thorp and Mary E. Gore, on May 27, 1957 at Alamance Co., North Carolina.1 David Weatherspoon Montgomery and Elizabeth Jeanne Thorp were divorced on June 28, 1985 at Alamance Co., North Carolina.3 David Weatherspoon Montgomery died on September 5, 2016 at North Carolina at age 79.4 He The family of David W. Montgomery wishes to acknowledge his departure from this life on September 5, 2016. He leaves behind his wife, Betty B. Montgomery, daughter Christy Montgomery Whitelaw (Edwin) of Christiansburg, VA, brother Donald P. Montgomery of Lady Lake, FL, stepdaughters Syvella Coomer of Clemmons, NC, Angie Cofer (Bill) of Winston-Salem, NC, stepsons Tom Lee Elam, Jr. (Pamela) of Blountville, TN and Mark Elam (Grisel) of Winston-Salem, NC. He will also be missed by three nieces and two nephews and by eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren to whom he was known as "PopPaw." David was preceded in death by his son, David W. ("Buddy") Montgomery, Jr. David was reared in Greensboro, NC and attended Greensboro Senior High School. In 1959, he graduated from the University of North Carolina School of Pharmacy and began his career, spanning over 50 years, serving the community via that profession. David was an avid amateur ham radio operator and was a member of the High Point Amateur Radio Club. His call sign, WD4MKS, will be retired. His other interests included doing home projects, working in the yard, gardening, reading and listening to jazz and classical music. He also enjoyed cheering on his beloved Tar Heels and collecting pottery face jugs and cookie jars. While David's quick wit and great sense of humor endeared him to many, he will live on in the memory of all as a "good, hardworking man with a big, big heart." on September 20, 2016.4

"Buddy" Montgomery Jr., 35, died June 28, 1995, at his residence. Born in Greensboro, Buddy had an extensive career as an actor and vocalist. Beginning in high school, as a member of the Page High School Touring Ensemble, Buddy performed as a soloist at Lincoln Center and attended N.C. Governor's School. He later entered the University of North Carolina - Greensboro and sang with the Men's Chorus and the University Chorus. In 1981, Buddy moved to Atlanta, Ga., where he graduated from the Atlanta Music Business Institute. While in Atlanta, Buddy performed with the Atlanta Symphony Chorus and several community choral and theater groups. As a resident of San Francisco, Buddy was employed by Muscle Systems Inc. and Josie's Cabaret. during his latter years, Buddy spent much of his time performing in benefits for various community causes. Buddy is survived by his partner, Richard Wright of San Francisco; mother, Betty T. Montgomery of Greensboro; father and step-mother, Mr. and Mrs. David W. Montgomery of Kernersville; sister, Christy Whitelaw of Greensboro; and maternal grandmother, Mary G.
