"Chuck" Carter of Spotsylvania County died Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2007, at his home, following a short illness. He was born Sept. 4, 1938, in Mount Hope, W.Va., to the late Eugene Scott and Alma Doss Carter. He was a member of the class of 1956 at Mount Hope High School and a 1960 graduate of Concord College. He was an exceptional educator honored by his peers and students with whom he shared his love of history and his knowledge of the English language for more than 30 years before retirement. His summers were spent indulging his love for travel with trips all over the world. He enjoyed entertaining family, friends and students with stories of his adventures. He is survived by one sister, Fran Carter Birdsong and her husband, Jerry, of Mount Hope; one brother, Richard D. Carter and his wife, Louise, of Gahanna, Ohio; one uncle, David L. Carter of Highpoint, N.C; three nephews; one niece; two great-nephews; two great-nieces; and 18 cousins. He also is survived by his longtime associate and partner, William Noble of Fredericksburg; and special friends, Ben Whitaker, Burt and Dianne Shand, Ted and Dianne Clark and others at Fredericksburg Mercedes-Volvo who generously gave care, comfort, encouragement and support during his illness. There will be no funeral and interment will be private in respect of his wishes. A memorial service will be held at Mount Hope Presbyterian Church in Mount Hope, at a date to be announced. on February 16, 2007.4

Kenneth Milton "Kenny" Crook was buried at Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley, Raleigh Co., West Virginia.3 He was born on January 25, 1941 at Jumping Branch, Summers Co., West Virginia.2,3 He married Judith Ann Patrick on November 14, 1961 at Clifton Forge, Alleghany Co., Virginia.2,3 Kenneth Milton "Kenny" Crook died on April 29, 2015 at West Virginia at age 74.3 He Kenneth Milton Crook went home to be with his Lord on April 29, 2015. He was the son of the late Charles Milton Crook and Mildred Hall Crook Taylor of Jumping Branch, WV. Kenny was born January 25, 1941. He graduated from Hinton High School in 1958; he then joined the Navy. Kenny came out of the service and went to Beckley College for two years. He owned and operated Crook Wholesale Produce Company along with his mom and dad. He also had other business interests including National Home Improvements, National Realty and National Bail Bonding all of Beckley, WV. Kenny was loved and respected by many people who had the pleasure to know him. He was a member of the Wesleyan Chapel Church in Beckley for over 50 years. He enjoyed life, his motorcycles, M & N Bus Tours, traveling with family and singing in the Graceman Gospel Quartet. After retiring, he played an active role in Crook Brothers, a wholesale produce distributor in Beckley, WV, where he worked daily with his two sons. Kenny was an only child. Those left to celebrate his life and cherish his memories include his loving wife of over 50 years, Judith Ann Patrick Crook, his twin sons, Keith Crook and wife Cindy, Kenneth Crook and wife Angela, daughters, Jessica Rae Humphrey and husband Charles of Daniels, Becky Poland, Millie Waddell and Fred of Beckley, nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and one on the way. Come celebrate with us at Blue Ridge Funeral Home; friends and family may gather at 1 p.m. and services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, May 4, 2015, with Benny Payton and John Hart officiating. Following the services Kenny will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley. American Legion Post 32 Honor Guard will be providing military honors. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. on May 2, 2015.3
