     Harold Charles "Hal" Hodson Jr. Harold Charles Hodson Jr. (Hal) passed away peacefully at his home in Granville Ohio, September 14, 2023, with his family by his side. Hal was born August 24th 1928, in Columbus Ohio and was raised in LaRue, Ohio. He graduated from high school in 1946 and Ohio Northern University in 1949, where he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity and a life member of the Lehr Society. He attended The Ohio State University, and was a member of the President’s Club. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He spent 40 years in the insurance industry and founded Benefit Plans Inc. in 1965 which pioneered health insurance for small employers. Hal was a farmer, businessman, boater, traveler, and avid sports fan. He lived many lives and remained active well into his 90’s. Hal cared deeply about his family and one of his fondest memories was hosting “Camp Hodson” at his farm Green Tree Farms in Lancaster, Ohio during the summers for his grandchildren. He left a memorable impression on everyone he encountered. There was never a dull moment with him, he was always on the go, and had an insatiable thirst for adventure. Hal is survived by 4 children; daughters, Morgan and Marcia; sons, Peter and Philip, in addition to his children he is survived by 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. The family wishes to thank Home Instead and their extraordinary caregivers for the care they provided Hal for the past 4 months. In addition, they would like to thank Ohio’s Hospice for their compassionate care while caring for Hal.4 He was born on August 24, 1928 at Columbus, Franklin Co., Ohio.3,5,4 He married Peggy Ruth McVey, daughter of Remus Haskel McVey and Vicie Ola Bowman, circa 2002.1,2 Harold Charles "Hal" Hodson Jr. and Peggy Ruth McVey were divorced on May 13, 2004 at Jackson Co., Ohio.2 Harold Charles "Hal" Hodson Jr. died on September 14, 2023 at Granville, Licking Co., Ohio, at age 95.4

Vass, Jr; a grandson, Roger Lee Stables, III; paternal grandparents, Price and Leslie Evelyn Toney Vass; maternal grandparents, Charles Edward and Rebecca Jane Server Bolt; and her first husband, Bobby Lane. Survivors include her husband, Elder Louie C. Rakes, Jr; two sons, Kevin Wayne McVey of Los Angeles, Calif, and Bobby Lee Lane II and wife, Beth of Shady Spring; a daughter, Sherry Yvonne Stables and husband, Roger of Sophia; three stepchildren, Johnny Rakes and wife, Rhonda, of Beckley, Donny Rakes and wife, Shawn, of Johnstown, Penn., and Michael Rakes and wife, Kim , of Beckley; four grandchildren, Brian Lane, Ashley Nicole Lane and Christopher and Brandon Stables; four step-grandchildren, Derrick Rakes, John Michael and Joshua Rakes and Kaytlin Rakes; a sister, Jenny Lee Lyons and husband, Larry, of Maxwell Hill; a niece, Kimberly Lyons of Maxwell Hill; a nephew, Larry Lyons, Jr. of Mount Hope; and a great-niece, Brianna Lyons of Maxwell Hill.
