Killed instantly in the collision was Philip E. King, 701 E. S. "B" St., Gas City, and dead before authorities could remove him from the wreckage was Girard S. Fowler, 20, 108 S. Water St., Jonesboro. The accident occurred at 3:05 a.m. Sunday at Sixth and Main Streets, and officials said there apparently were no witnesses as to what actually happened. When both vehicles stopped, they were in the south lane of the wide thoroughfare. Authorities said Fowler was traveling west on Main Street and King was en route east. Each, was alone in his car, and each vehicle was demolished. Dr. John Pattison, Grant County coroner, said the deaths of the men were caused by multiple fractures and internal injuries. Investigating the crash were State Trooper Michael Carmin and Gas City Officers Raymond Russell and Jacob Cress. King, a life resident of Gas. City, was employed at Chrysler Corp, in Kokomo, He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Gas City. Burial will be in the Gardens of Memory, north of Marion on Ind. 37. Surviving Mr. King are the widow, Patricia; one daughter, Barbara; four stepsons, Gregory, Richard, Randall and Mark Soultz, all of Gas City; the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Philip King, Gas City; a brother, Richard, Gas City, and the grandparents, Mrs. Eva King, Gas City, land Mr. and Mrs. Paul Spaulding, Marion. on August 21, 1967.5

Born on June 24, 1942, in Marion, he was the son of the late Patrick Rosco Bickel and Virginia Murphy Bickel. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and was retired from General Motors. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Julie Owen; brothers, Danny Bickel, Gene Murphy, and Patrick Bickel; and sister in law, Joann Bickel. Michael was a member of the Gas City Moose Lodge and Fairmount American Legion. Sports was a big part of Michael's life, and he was faithful in attending his grandchildren's sporting events. He especially loved the Chicago Bears and Nascar's Jimmie Johnson. Playing Euchre and doing gardening and yardwork. were some of his favorite hobbies. In addition to his wife, Nancy, those surviving Michael include his daughter, Autumn Dillon, Jonesboro; son, Michael Felton, Marion; daughters, Jennifer Miller, Marion, and Wanda Felton, Hartford City; brother, Jerry Moore, WA; 12 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren. Also preceding Michael in death were son, Tim Felton; son-in-law, Tom Miller; and brother, Bill Gingerick. on October 25, 2015.2

     Floyd D. Crosby Floyd D. Crosby, 78, of Gas City, passed away at 7:20 pm on Friday, October 7, 2022. He was born in Marion, Indiana, on Thursday, March 16, 1944, to Glen and Lula (Stewart) Crosby. He married Pam (Ende), who survives. Floyd graduated from Mississinewa and served in the United States National Guard. Following his service time, he worked as a Police Officer for Gas City for 20 years. He then managed the Soap and Suds Car Wash. After retirement he loved staying at home and being with his grandkids and working in the yard. Floyd is also survived by his daughter, Melissa Kaye Crosby; step-son, Shane (Chip Fletcher) Campbell of Sinking Springs, PA; step-daughter, Damian (Patrick) Murray of Gas City; granddaughters, Sydney (David) Couchman, Hazel Fletcher-Campbell, Aivee Murray; great-grandsons, Dayton Couchman, Rhett Couchman; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen W. and Lula Belle Crosby; son, William M. Crosby; sister, Marjorie Darlene Glass; and brother, Charles W. Crosby. A graveside service will be held at a later date at Riverside Cemetery.2 He was buried at Riverside Cemetery, Gas City, Grant Co., Indiana.3,2 He was born on March 16, 1944 at Marion, Grant Co., Indiana.2 He married Patricia Lee Woolverton, daughter of Carl Sylvester Woolverton and Mary Margaret Haley, on February 14, 1979 at Gas City, Grant Co., Indiana.1 Floyd D.
