Pamela Kay Sommer Pam Sommer Simpkins passed away on October 23, 2021 at Pleasant Valley Hospital after a long illness. She was born April 22, 1955, the daughter of G. C. “Pete” and Jo Ann Plants Sommer. She graduated from Point Pleasant High School class of 1973, attended West Virginia University, then received an Associate Degree from Mountain State College in Parkersburg. She worked at Ohio Valley Bank, Goodyear Plant, and drove a school bus for the Mason County School System. She retired from United States Postal Service as a mail carrier in Eleanor, WV. Pam was an avid West Virginia football and basketball fan, always looking forward to the next game. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Point Pleasant. She enjoyed getting together with family at reunions and parties of any kind. She was preceded in death by her father G. C. “Pete” Sommer and her ex-husband Carl A. “Sonny” Simpkins. She is survived by Mother JoAnn Plants Sommer, her daughter Kayla Sommer Simpkins, stepsons Todd and Clifford Simpkins, sisters Georgianna Tillis and Julie (Keith) Bibbee, and her brother G. C. “Pete” (Laura) Sommer, II. She is also survived by grandchildren Mariah Glover, A.J. and Wyatt Meadows, several nieces and nephews, aunts, uncle, and extended family. Pam’s humor and candor will be missed by her family and many friends in Mason and Putnam Counties.1 She and Carl Andrew Simpkins were divorced.1 Pamela Kay Sommer was born on April 22, 1955.1 As of December 21, 1979,her married name was Simpkins.1 She married Carl Andrew Simpkins, son of Carl William Simpkins and Zelda Elzetta Crump, on December 21, 1979.1 Pamela Kay Sommer died on October 23, 2021 at Point Pleasant, Mason Co., West Virginia, at age 66.1

She was born August 5, 1961, in Point Pleasant, a daughter of the late Carl A. "Sonny" Simpkins and Sonia J. Decker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a nephew, Jacob Briar Wolfe. Cathy was a graduate of Point Pleasant High School Class of 1979. She served her country in the United States Army for six years and retired from the Gallipolis Developmental Center in Gallipolis, OH. She is survived by her children, Kizma Simpkins of Columbus, OH and Alicia Simpkins of Gallipolis; four grandchildren, Timothy Hill, Brooklyn Hill, Jayden Simpkins and Carter Parsons; a sister, Melissa M. (Paul) Wolfe of Pomeroy, OH; brothers, Carl David (Jeannie) Simpkins of Racine, OH, John "Crockett" (Camala) Simpkins of Henderson, Todd H. (Missy) Simpkins of Huntington and Clifford C. (Tammy) Simpkins of Hendersonville, NC; and her beloved dog Poppy. Burial will follow at the Graham Cemetery in New Haven. Military graveside honors will be given by the West Virginia Army Honor Guard and Stewart Johnson VFW Post 9926 of Mason.2 She was born on August 5, 1961 at Point Pleasant, Mason Co., West Virginia.2 She died on July 30, 2022 at Point Pleasant, Mason Co., West Virginia, at age 60.2

John Crockett Simpkins John Crockett Simpkins, 59, of Gallipolis Ferry, WV passed away, Monday December 4, 2023, at home after a long battle with cancer. He was born in Delaware, OH on May 31, 1964, a son to the late Carl "Sonny" Simpkins and Sonia Decker Simpkins. He is very loved and will be missed terribly. Crockett spent over 40 years of his life dedicated to his career on the river. He is preceded in death by, Sister, Cathy Simpkins and nephew Briar Wolfe. Crockett is survived by his wife Camala Simpkins, Brothers, Carl Simpkins, Todd Simpkins, and Clifford Simpkins, Sister Missie Simpkins along with several nieces and nephews. Briar was a graduate of Meigs High School Class of 2020, where he had played baseball. He currently was a student at Hocking College in Nelsonville, Ohio, and was employed by Twin Oaks Gas Station. After graduation, he worked as an umpire for the Little League games in Meigs County. In addition to his parents, Paul and Melissa, he is survived by his brother, Zayne Wolfe of Pomeroy; and girlfriend, Alyssa Smith of Pomeroy. Burial will follow at the Graham Cemetery in New Haven.2 He was born on October 5, 2001 at Point Pleasant, Mason Co., West Virginia.2 He died on July 25, 2021 at Ohio at age 19.2
