Paul was preceded in death by his first wife, Bonnie; daughter, Ellen Replogle; his parents; step-father, Frederick Whittelsey; and brother, John Replogle. Paul was a member of the Battle Creek Country Club, National Association of Accountants, Post Management Club, Post 25 Year Club, Quinsept User?s Group, National Genealogical Society, Calhoun County Genealogy Society and Fellowship of Brethren Genealogists. He has traced the Replogle family back to the 16th century and co-authored a book on its history. As a musician, Paul enjoyed listening to jazz and played trombone with Battle Creek Central High School Band and Band Follies (1950 to 1952), Michigan State University marching and concert band (1952 to 1954), U. S. Army Signal Corps Training School Band while in the military, American Legion Band and Battle Creek Musician's Union Local Concert Band (1960's), Battle Creek Symphony Orchestra and Battle Creek Jazz Ensemble (1970's to 1980's), Lew Boyd's Burnham Brook Big Band (1990's) and many high school, college, Army, and local dance bands too numerous to mention. He also composed and arranged music for some of these groups. In fact, Paul was the first resident of Battle Creek to have his own musical composition performed professionally in the W. K. He received the National Defense Service Medal as well as medals in Sharpshooter M-14, Markmanship M-60 and Marksmanship .45 Caliber. He was self-employed for 30 years at AAA Excavating and previously was a journeyman ironworker. Surviving are brothers, Paul Replogle of Battle Creek and Charles Replogle of Nashville. Erta is survived by her daughters, Anna (Rodney) Cole of Athens, Voni (Andi) Kipp of East Leroy, Julie (Joe) Burdette of Battle Cree; son, Charles (Lalita) Replogle of Athens; grandchildren, Barry, Evan, Amber, Katlyn, Devin, April, Jared, Alana and Charles; great-grandchildren, Aalyiah and Alexis; and by her aunts, Janie, Ruth, and Betty; and nephews, Steve and Don. Erta also leaves behind many friends. She was preceded to heaven by her parents. She will be dearly missed by her wide circle of family and friends. Erta was a member of Alpha Chi Omega fraternity at Western Michigan University, the First Baptist Church of Battle Creek, and the North Athens Baptist Church. She loved making jewelry, painting, and drawing, and attending her children and grandchildren's sporting activities. She also enjoyed camping, campfires, swimming, and their cottage at the lake, balloon festivals, bird watching, and most especially, attending family reunions. Erta was a devoted Christian mother and grandmother. Her family called her Oma, which is a German term for Grandma. She loved the Lord and prayed daily for everyone. on February 19, 2008.⁴

She taught in Joliet, Ill., and for 18½ years at Harper Creek elementary and junior high schools, retiring in 1989. She married Paul H. Replogle on Dec. 16, 1955. He survives. Also surviving are sons, Steven Bruce Replogle of Denver and Donald Lee Replogle of Battle Creek; two grandchildren; and a sister, Mollie McFinton of Portage. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Ellen Elizabeth in 1962; a twin sister, Connie Jean Dane in 1966 and a brother, F.W. "Bill" Lancaster in 1994. (Betty) King of Dearborn, MI; nephew, James Massingale of Pittsburg, PA; niece Nancy Massingale of Raleigh, NC; and dear friend, Sandra Waite of Lawton, MI. She received her B. A. Degree at Marygrove College and Wayne State University. After coming to Battle Creek, she went to Western Michigan University and received her Master's Degree. Rita was employed as a counselor at Battle Creek Central High School for 20 years. She was a member of the Board of Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Battle Creek Community Concert Assoc., Battle Creek Jazz Band, Art Center of Battle Creek, Burnham Brook, Battle Creek Country Club and St. Philip Catholic Church. Rita enjoyed playing golf, tennis and bridge. She also enjoyed listening to music, especially jazz and loved to read. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. on October 25, 2007.¹
