David was raised by both his grandmother and his mom, living between South Bend, Indiana and Michigan. Growing up and exploring the countryside around his Grandma Zonie's farm, he developed a life-long love of nature and an appreciation for the beauty of each season. Loving music, he had eclectic taste and listened to the sounds of many genres. David loved playing Scott Joplin or Chopin on the piano and he sang with a strong and deep voice. When he saw the movie The Third Man, he was mesmerized by the soundtrack and the zither music that played throughout the film. Although he was in his forties, he bought a zither and began taking lessons. Meeting Patricia (Patty) Kenealy while they were both students at Indiana University- Bloomington was the most transformative event of his life. For David it was truly love at first sight and on November 14, 1964, they were married in Munster, Indiana. The only thing that David ever wanted was to have and to be a part of a family. This wish was fulfilled when he and Patty welcomed their first child, Suzanne, who was followed five years later by their son Matthew. David was a young father, who balanced working for bank in the day, taking classes at night, and serving in the National Guard. He starting out as a bank teller and he retired as an estate planner, Vice President at M&I Trust Services. David was a mix of contradictions. For example, he was quiet and a little bit shy, but he loved talking with everyone that he encountered. He took genuine interest in hearing about other people's lives and their He was serious with a deep sense of responsibility but he also side with a weakness for slap-stick comedy. He had an easy smile sense of humor. Usually choosing biographies or historical fiction, David loved experiences. had a silly and keen to read. Everyday he read aloud to his wife Patty, his "sweetie" and during these readaloud sessions, it was usually a book of her choice, such as something about the English countryside or Vincent van Gogh. David thoroughly enjoyed reading her selections because just being with her and sharing her world, made him happy. They were married and inseparable for 56 years, until her death in 2021. For years, each Valentine's Day he would surprise her with a painstakingly made homemade valentine. He used beautiful fabrics and lace, and he draw, glued, sewed and embroidered unique creations that usually simply said, "David loves Patty". Like these messages, David was uncomplicated, modest, sincere and full of love. The last few years of his life he lived in memory care and his family would like to thank the entire staff at Lincolnshire Place, Love's Park and Sanctuary Hospice for their care and affection for David. It meant the world to us when we would show up and his favorite music was playing in his room or when he was sporting one of his fedoras. We are forever grateful. David is survived by his daughter, Suzanne Guilliom; son, Matthew Guilliom; son-in-law, Frank Barnes; granddaughters, Annie Barnes and Lucy Barnes; half-sister, Susan Guilliom and other family and friends who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia (Kenealy) Guilliom; his parents, Percy and Helen (Paul) Guilliom; and his half-sisters, Lynda (Guilliom) Holmes and Jacqualyn (Guilliom) Betz. on February 11, 2024.²

As a young woman Patricia studied art at Indiana University- Bloomington and then, partially due to her desire for travel and her love of adventure, she enrolled in a flight attendant program in Dallas, TX. However, she had left a part of her heart in Indiana and didn't end up completing the program. On November 14, 1964, Patricia married David P. Guilliom in Munster, IN. They met at a freshman mixer at the university commons. Introduced to David by her sister Kathryn (Kitch), Pat didn't initially notice him because at the time she was at a table surrounded by other young men seeking her attention. When Pat finally did notice David, they became inseparable and spent almost sixty fun and happy years together. During their marriage, they raised two children, Suzanne and Matthew, and lived in both Indiana and Wisconsin. Her travels with David included several trips to Europe which included the Netherlands, England, France, Ireland, Italy and Slovakia as well as memorable trips to California, Florida, Hilton Head Island, New Orleans and the East Coast. When her children were older, she returned to college and graduated with a degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee. She loved working with young children and many of her friends were her coworkers that she met while teaching in both Milwaukee and Wausau. She was a member and former president of the Wausau Antique Study Club and had belonged to the St. John Lutheran Church in the town of Maine. Her perfect day would include family, a bright blue sky and laughter. She enjoyed reading, learning about the past and gathering bouquets of wildflowers. With her husband David, she would go on almost daily drives into the country, often stopping to watch a beautiful sunset or to eat at a new restaurant. She loved discovering new places and dreamed of finding a hidden treasure in a thrift shop. She loved being David's "sweetie", "mom", "Grandma Patty" and "Aunt Patty" and she will be remembered for having an adventurous spirit, her skill of being able to talk to anyone and her ability to make everyone in the room weak with laughter. Patricia is survived by her husband of 56 years, David Guilliom; daughter, Suzanne Guilliom (Frank Barnes); son, Matthew Guilliom; granddaughters, Annie Barnes and Lucy Barnes; sister, Kathryn (Kenealy) Somers; brother, Jack Kenealy; aunt, Kathryn (Biacovsky) Ashey and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; step-father, John Weyls; brother, Gerald "Jerry" Kenealy and sister, Bonnie (Kenealy) Branson and niece, Lissa (Somers) Morris. on March 4, 2021.³

     Abraham Vest They lived near the arsenic mines, the land was homesteaded and after Abraham's death, the land was divided between the sons. Isaac's portion was later owned by the Poff's. Until recently, Floyd's son, William Vest, lived at the old homeplace. Floyd, being the strongest, physically, was kept home to farm, while Isaac was sent to school near Abingdon and was a teacher. His first school was in an old Ferguson house near Roscoe Willis' store. This was told by Wanda Vest, his daughter-in-law. Later the one-room school was built, known as the Vest school and probably named for its first teacher, Isaac Vest; better known as "Little Ike".¹ He was born on June 14, 1829 at Franklin Co., Virginia. He married Lydia "Liddy" Wilson on April 17, 1852 at Floyd Co., Virginia.^2,1 Abraham Vest died before 1865; Abraham was killed during the Civil War and the family knew nothing about where he was buried.¹

She had played the piano during silent movies at the former Post Theatre. She was a member of the Music Teachers National Association and Michigan Music Teachers Association. She also was a member of Battle Creek Music Teachers Association and Morning Musical Association. She had been active in music circles in the area and had been a member of the Musical Trio, a church ladies singing group. A state music association named her Outstanding Woman of the Year in 1983 for her musical accomplishments. She had devoted many hours to the Leila Hospital Auxiliary, working in the gift department. She had been a member of the Order of Eastern Her husband of 66 years, Charles "Charlie" H. Van Doren, died in 1986. Surviving are a daughter, Mary Jane Sofiak of Daytona Beach, Fla; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Frances Whittelsey of 39 Oxford St. on February 9, 1988.²

Mrs. Blain is survived by as stepson, Paul Blain of Burke, Va; a niece, Mary Lou Stowell Yeager of Ontario; and three step-grandchildren, Cheryl Ann, David and Michael Blain. She was preceded in death by her husband, O.W. Blain, who died in 1982; and a brother, Ralph B. Stowell. on January 5, 1994.⁴

Kennedy, 79, of 704 N. Michigan ave., Hastings, died Sunday at 12:45 p.m. at Pennock Hospital where he had been a patient for two weeks. He had spent the previous six weeks in Leila Hospital in Battle Creek. Mr. Kennedy moved to Hastings in 1947 and lived at the above address since his retirement from farming. Born March 18, 1878, in Newfield, N.Y., he was the son of Stephen and Cornelia (Dudley) Kennedy. He came to Yankee Springs Township with parents when he was one year old and lived in that vicinity and Irving Township in his youth, attending, Wilcox School in Irving On Jan. 24, 1901, he married Clessie Poff of Middleville and in 1911 they moved to Hastings Township where he farmed until 1947. He attended the First Presbyterian Church of Hastings. Surviving are his wife; a son, Fred Kennedy, of Tuscon, Ariz; two granddaughters; five great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Allie Dunlap of Middleville. on August 26, 1957.⁵
