George L. Wimmer was buried at William Watters United Methodist Church Cemetery, 1452 West Jarrettsville Road, Coopstown, Harford Co., Maryland.3 He was born circa 1905 at Floyd Co., Virginia.1 He died on June 27, 1926 at Ashland, Baltimore Co., Maryland.3 He George Wimmer, twenty-one year old son of Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Wimmer, of Cooptown, ended his life on Sunday by leaping from the 60-foot bridge spanning the Gunpowder River at Ashland. Young Wimmer was a trainer and jockey for Mr. Lurman Stewart at Monkton and had been despondent recently because of his failure to recover properly from an operation. It was said by Raymond Albright, a friend who was returning from Baltimore with Wimmer that when they reached the bridge the jockey said he was "warm", left his coat and watch in their automobile and took the fatal plunge. The body was recovered on Monday and a coroner's jury rendered a verdict of suicide. Besides his parents the deceased is survived by two sisters, Miss Cammie Wimmer and Mrs. Orville Ryan, and six brothers, Messrs. Burrell, Irwin, Eldridge, Norris, Lawrence and Page Wimmer. Interment was made in Cooptown Cemetery. Messrs. John Poteet, Ernest Ball, Charles Lee, Thomas Parrish, Miles Jones and Lester Ryan were the pallbearers. on July 2, 1926.3
