Allison Gordon Galt was buried at Sparkman Hillcrest Memorial Park, 7405 W. Northwest Highway, Dallas, Dallas Co., Texas.2 He was born on September 1, 1913 at Clarksburg, Harrison Co., West Virginia.3 He married Virginia Kathleen Underwood, daughter of Archibald Ray "Archie" "Arch" Underwood and Roxie Eugene Poff, on June 26, 1935 at Excelsior, McDowell Co., West Virginia.1,2,4 Allison Gordon Galt died on October 24, 1994 at Dallas, Dallas Co., Texas, at age 81.5,2 He Services for Dallas independent oilman and political supporter A. Gordon Galt will be at Highland Park Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Mr. Galt died at his Dallas home Monday. He was 81. Mr. Galt founded Western Gulf Oil and Gas Inc. in Dallas and operated it for almost 50 years. With the success of his oil company, Mr. Galt became active in politics, first backing conservative Democrats and then Republicans as the party emerged in Texas, said his daughter, Allison Galt Hall of Dallas. His Republican backing created a stir 30 years ago, when - as a Democratic precinct chairman in Dallas County - he supported George Bush in his race against U.S. Sen. Ralph Yarborough. "They got angry at him, and he had to change parties," Mrs. Hall said. A native of Clarksburg, W.Va., Mr. Galt came to Dallas in 1939 and soon founded Pan American Engineering Co., an import-export company specializing in buying and selling railroad locomotives to Mexico. Pan American's business was key to establishing Dallas business relations with the Mexican government during the early 1940s, Mrs. Hall said. "It wasn't too long ago the Mexican government needed a locomotive, and he found them one," she said. In 1945, Mr. Galt founded Western Gulf Oil and Gas, and he spent the next 49 years as an independent oilman. "He didn't have any help from anybody. He was a self-made man," Mrs. Hall said. During the '60s, Mr. Galt started Empire Energy, a coal operation in Craig, Colo. He belonged to the Northwood Country Club, where he was an active tennis player. A financial supporter of Southern Methodist University, Mr. Galt's memberships included the Greater Dallas Chamber of Commerce, the Dallas Petroleum Club, the Dallas Club, the Energy Club of Dallas and the Texas Independent Producers and Royalty Owners. In addition to his daughter, Mr. Galt is survived by his wife, Kathleen Underwood Galt; a second daughter, Barbara Galt Meadows; and four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. on October 26, 1994.2

From sportswear, the pair moved to the design and sewing of appliquéd clothing. Soon after, she started a hand knitted sweater business with Kay Strother and Mary Johnston Northern called Melange IV. Finally, she managed estate sales in north Dallas. Allison was a lifelong member of Highland Park United Methodist Church, a member of the Dallas Woman’s Club and the Daughters of the American Revolution. Once Allan and Allison’s grandchildren arrived, they became the focus. She loved spending time with them, attending sporting events and school activities. The couple enjoyed spending time in Cabo San Lucas whenever they could. Allison was preceded in death by her parents Allison Gordon Galt and Virginia Kathleen Underwood Galt. Barbara Eugene Galt Loving mother and grandmother, Barbara Galt Meadows passed away Monday, March 29, 2021 surrounded by her family. Barbara was a proud life-long Dallas resident, born on March 22, 1943 to Kathleen Underwood Galt and Gordon Galt. She attended Bradfield Elementary, The Hockaday School and graduated from Highland Park High School class of 1961. Barbara graduated from Southern Methodist University with her B.A. in English. As a child she enjoyed riding her horse, Quest, and loved spending summers at The Grand Hotel in Point Clear, Alabama where she would play tennis and sail. Barbara loved music and while at Highland Park gave a memorable performance as Bloody Mary in the musical South Pacific. After making her Idlewild debut, Bert and Barbara married in early 1966 and welcomed Michelle into the world later that year. Three years later Clayton Michael was born. Raising her children was her priority and greatest joy. She remained their biggest cheerleader and advocate throughout her life and instilled in them the confidence that they could do anything they set their minds to. Barbara loved to have fun! The family spent winter vacations skiing in Vail and summers in favorite spots like Kailua, Hawaii, but the place closest to her and the family’s heart was Bert’s old family bay house on Galveston Bay. It was here that the whole family’s love of boating grew. She and Bert raced sailboats locally and in major off-shore series and regattas. In 1986 she spear-headed fundraising for the America II campaign to reclaim the America’s Cup from Australia. Barbara’s other passion was fast red cars such as her much coveted ’67 Corvette and first of the line 300 ZX convertible. Although divorced for many years, Barbara and Bert remained close and in 2006 welcomed into the world their grandson, Nicholas, born to Clayton Michael and his wife, Cheryl. He instantly became the light of her life. In her later years renal failure and dialysis slowed her down a bit physically, but not the contagious laughter. She is survived by her daughter, Michelle Meadows; son, Clayton Meadows; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Meadows and cherished grandson, Nicholas Meadows; her ex-husband and close friend, Bert Meadows; cousins, Betty Underwood and Carol Underwood Dicker Ochse; niece and nephew, Kathy Hall Murphy and Brandon Hall; her many friends, some lifelong, and all of those that called her “mom” that she loved and adored. She is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Allison Galt Hall. A special thank you to her home health nurse of many years, Pam Aldred, the staff at DaVita Brookriver Dialysis and especially the wonderful staff at Juliette Fowler Communities.4 She was born on March 22, 1943 at Dallas, Dallas Co., Texas.1,4 As of April 9, 1966,her married name was Meadows.2 She married Herbert Eaves Meadows on April 9, 1966 at Dallas Co., Texas.2,4 Barbara Eugene Galt and Herbert Eaves Meadows were divorced on November 4, 1992 at Dallas Co., Texas.6 Barbara Eugene Galt died on March 29, 2021 at Dallas, Dallas Co., Texas, at age 78.4
