She was survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy and Basil Williams of Copper Hill; one brother Posey King of Copper Hill; two granddaughters and husbands, Sandra and Lynn Shumake of Glenwood, MD; Jamean and Mario Guerrera of New York, NY; two grandsons and wives, Paul and Susan Williams of Broadway, NC; Terry and Judy Williams of Boones Mill, VA; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be at Copper Hill Church of the Brethern with interment in the church cemetery. on December 27, 1989.3

She was a former member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and in her later years was an active member of the Widow's Club. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and her many friends. Thelma is survived by her daughters, Louise Ballard Osika (Dennis) of Lansing, Linda Whiting Hopkins (Joseph III) of Lansing; son, Robert L. (Margaret) Ballard of Texas; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Roger Ballard; second husband, Richard L. Whiting; loving brother and sister, Herman Poff and Eva Poff Hurley; and a grandson, Jason Ballard. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Thelma's friends and caregivers at Lakeside Nursing Home and to the wonderful staff at Hospicare for taking such good care of her these past few months and weeks. Burial will follow in East Lawn Cemetery. on October 11, 2004.2
