Madora Jean Light Madora Light Lane, 77, of Roanoke, passed away on August 4, 2022. She was born on June 28, 1945 to the late Gabriel Owen and Mildred Reed Light. She was also preceded in death by her sister and best friend, Marchetta “Marc” Lafon and husband, Jim; her beloved niece, Autumn Light; and sister-in-law, Joyce Lane. Madora is survived by her devoted husband, Virgil “Sammy” Lane, Jr; step-son, Scott Lane (Stephanie); brother, Jay Light (Cathy); “baby” brother, Dennis Light (Deb); sister-in-law, Donna Cubitt (Mike) and brother-in-law, Tommy Lane. She is also survived by many adored nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and life-long friends. “Madora”. A beautiful name for a beautiful woman, inside and out. Madora was many things to many people and will be dearly missed by all that knew her. She was a wonderful and devoted wife to Sammy for 42 years, a mother to Scott as if he was her own, the best mother-in-law a girl could imagine, an amazing sister, the cool aunt and a loving guardian to all of her fur babies through the years. Madora had a heart of gold and loved nothing more than her family. She enjoyed getting together regularly with her siblings and extended family for weekly lunches as well as occasional reunions and visits to the farm. Madora took generous to a new level and never missed a birthday or special occasion as an opportunity to remind you that she loved you. Madora also won the award for being a loyal employee when she recently retired from Moss & Rocovich after reaching her 50th year anniversary! Needless to say, she was a hard worker. She also loved her church family and missed that very much in the past two years. The world has lost the dearest of angels on earth; may we remember her example and strive to navigate through this life as Madora did with kindness, grace and love. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.4 She was buried at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, 5737 Airport Road NW, Roanoke, Virginia.4 She was born on June 28, 1945 at Christiansburg, Montgomery Co., Virginia.1,3,4,5 As of October 7, 1965,her married name was Poff.3 She married James Norman Poff, son of James Dewey Poff and Norma Coleman Phillips, on October 7, 1965 at Roanoke Co., Virginia.3 Madora Jean Light and James Norman Poff were divorced on September 14, 1979.3 As of May 17, 1980,her married name was Lane.3 Madora Jean Light married Virgil Samuel "Sammy" Lane Jr. on May 17, 1980 at Roanoke, Virginia.1,2,3,4 Madora Jean Light died on August 4, 2022 at Roanoke, Virginia, at age 77.4
