Mildred Maxine King1,2,3,4

F, b. April 10, 1934, d. August 25, 2023
Mildred Maxine King Our precious mother, Mildred King Conner of Glenwood, WV, died. August 25, 2023. She was 89 years old. Mildred was born the daughter of John E. and Gladys Holloway King in Rock, WV on April 10, 1934. She graduated from Princeton High School and was employed by G.C. Murphy Co. until her marriage to her childhood sweetheart, Donald Ray Conner. Donald had enlisted in the US Air Force prior to their marriage. They spent the early years of their marriage traveling across the USA and raising their three daughters together. Mildred was employed at Ched's on Stafford Drive after their return to WV to be close to family. She retired to become Donald's full-time caregiver. She was his rock as he battled Multiple Sclerosis and cancer and was devastated when he died. She frequently said "I was born a King, but he always treated me like a queen." They were married for 54 years. Mildred dearly loved her family and friends. She was a kind and tender hearted woman who was loved by all who knew her. She was a devoted daughter and often proclaimed that her mother "was the best mother in the world!" Mildred inherited her mother's gentle nature and sweet smile. Although our hearts are broken, we can take comfort knowing that there was a joyful reunion in heaven. King, Jr., Harold (Corky) King, Sr. and Fredrick (Freddy) King. She leaves behind a host of nephews and nieces. Courtney) Fiery of Bluefield, VA, and one sister, Barbara Vohsen of St. Lewis, MO. Her legacy includes six grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and two great great granddaughters.
