     Mary Josephine Firebaugh Josephine “Jo” Collins of Roanoke passed away Saturday, January 07, 2017. Jo was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Mary Firebaugh, her husband, Paul Collins, and her brother, Eugene Firebaugh. She developed a love for music at an early age, having played the piano most of her life. This love would result in her becoming the pianist at Tabernacle Baptist Church and later the pianist and choir director for Mountain Pass Baptist Church. She is survived by her children, Elaine King and husband Eugene “Buck” King, Linda Anderson and husband Jim Anderson, and Kevin Collins; four grandchildren, Jerry Dean Dotson (Kara), Jason Dotson (Jennifer), Leslie Zeller (Jamie), and Chris Anderson (Corrie); five great grandchildren and numerous friends and other relatives. A graveside service will be held at Cedar Lawn Cemetery.² She was buried at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, 5070 Cove Road N. Ann was a nurse employed by Medi Home Health and Hospice, and was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church. She was a very special, caring and loving person, having a passion to serve others, especially the elderly. Surviving are her mother, Cigile Vest Martin; brother and sister-in-law, Lee and Angie Martin; nephew, Ryan Martin, of Wilmore, Ky; and niece and husband, Emily and Ben Andrews, of Nicholasville, Ky. Other survivors include a great-aunt, Agatha Austin, of Check, Va; aunts, Ethel Frances (Harold) Sheets, of Roanoke, Va., Chlorine Clower and Donna King, of Christiansburg, Va., Eloise (W. Wayne) Gearhart, Lena (Archie) McAlexander, Ocie (Dalton) Thompson, of Pilot, Va., and Jane Ernestine Nichols, of Roanoke, Va; uncles, Ernest (Connie) Martin, of Roanoke, Va., and Vernon (Sandra) Martin, of Little River, S.C; numerous cousins; and her little K-9 companion, "Nikki." Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. on May 20, 2009.⁷

He will be missed by his loving wife of 35 years, Lina Brown of the home, children, Dwight Brown of Greensboro, Faythe Johnson and her husband, Larry of Greensboro, Linda Straughn of Kernersville, Barbara Buckner and her husband, Jerry of Greensboro, Sandra Spivey and her husband George of Pleasant Garden, Danny Brown and his wife Ann of Roanoke Va., Blake Miller and his wife Melanie of Greensboro, Joyce Carrier and her husband Kim of Asheboro, Janet Capps and her husband Eddie of Greensboro, Vicki Hudson and her husband Wayne of Greensboro, and Rebecca Kellam of Greensboro, 20 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris C. Martin. His surviving family include daughters, Mirenda M. Poff, Donna J. Martin and Cathy L. Martin; a son, Lawrence Randolph Martin; sons-in-law, David E. Poff and Barry W. Martin; grandchildren, Joshua A. Poff and Samuel W. Martin; brother, Raymond K. Martin Jr. of Orange, Calf; sisters, June M. Wright of Salem, Janice M. Stultz of Roanoke and Patty Mae Ramsey of Mableton, Ga. He was a member of the Roanoke Amputee Network, who had been a second family to him.
