(Al) Reed; a sister, Linda Galyean, and husband, Jerry, all of Lynchburg; a brother-in-law, John R. Soos, of Lynchburg; a devoted companion, Betty Staton; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Benny Frank Reed, and two sisters, Nancy Soos and Patsy Jefftazak. Funeral services will be held in Rocks Baptist Church with burial following in the church cemetery. on July 22, 2010.6

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Mrs. Virginia Jones Laxton; two sons, Pete Laxton of Oceana and David Glen and his wife, Peggy Laxton of Matheny; four daughters, Mrs. Franz (Rose) Geyer of Baltimore, Md., Mrs. Winston (Mary Lou) Lowe of Hager Hill, Ky., Mrs. Bob (Mae) Cook and Alice Laxton, both of Oceana; two sisters, Vida Adkins of Keyrock and Joyce Hamrick of Beckley; 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
