Upon returning to Franklin County, Jessie started his septic tank installation business from which he retired in 1979. Jessie is predeceased by his mother and father, Novella and Rufus Dudley; and his brother, Randall. He is also predeceased by his son, Jerry, who always brought a twinkle to his eye and a smile to his face. Jessie is survived by his daughter, Dee Dudley and her husband, Dan Hildebrand; and his daughter, Karen Freeland and her husband, John. Also surviving are Jessie's sisters, who meant so much to him, Christine Dillon, Shirley Clark, Darlene Wheeler and Jane Meador and their families. Jessie loved his grandchildren, William, Tyler, Kristen, Brett, Taylor, Dana, Hannah, Haley, Drew, Sawyer and Jake, and took great joy in their laughter. Jessie leaves behind special friends, Paul Moore and Diane Arrington. Paul, who taught him so much, and Diane, who brought the sunshine inside to him. Interment will follow the service in Franklin Memorial Park. on March 17, 2004.⁸
