His loving care and support of his wife and daughter, grandchildren and great-grandson was above measure. He was born February 6, 1923 to the late Paul and Carrie King. He was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Merrimon and Ada King, Everret and Clara King, Robert King, Morgan King, Willard and Nelda King. He is survived by his sister, Mary Blevins and sisters-in-law Margaret King, Irene King and Mildred Bryant. Also left to cherish his memories is his loving wife of 63 years, Norma King. Also remembering many good times with her dad is Dawn Matney and son-in-law Russell E. Matney. James had five grandchildren, Jerry Cline and wife Heather, Michael Scott Cline and wife Ashley, Vicki Golden, Kathryn Matney and Christopher Matney; and one great-grandson, James Patrick Golden, Jr. He has been a grandfather image to many foster children. He had many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. Special thanks to Bobby King and Mark King who helped the family greatly, and thanks to a special friend Sally Zumbro. He had a special K-9 family, Sam, Chief and Jack; and also a special feline family, Bigfoot, Tiger, Midnight, Patches and Sugar. He was a faithful member of and served as Deacon at First Christian Church of Salem, Va. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He retired from Valleydale Packers of Salem, Va. and City of Salem Schools. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. Most importantly he lived a life of good deeds and hope. His beloved family holds fond memories of his devotion and optimism. He loved the outdoors, gardening, children and animals. He really loved his grandson's service dog, Chief. Many thanks to the staff of 5 West and 5 East at Lewis Gale Medical Center of Salem. The many doctors who were always there to help and support him and the family through his many medical struggles. Special thanks to a great set of doctors, Dr. Witten, Dr. Bushkar, Dr. Robert Williams, Dr. Harris, Dr. Hormel, Dr. Nelson and Dr. Singh.      Sherry Lee Robertson Sherry Lee Robertson Lockhart, March 31, 1956 - January 31, 2018. Sherry Lee Robertson Lockhart of Roanoke, Va. passed away suddenly on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at the age of 61. She is now with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, as well as her late father, Robert Raymond (Wacky) Robertson and other beloved family members who preceded her. Sherry brought joy to everyone around her with her contagious laugh and personality. She was born in Roanoke where she lived her entire life. She loved oldies music (especially the Beatles), her numerous cats over the years, NASCAR, (especially the Earnhardts and Dale, Sr.) Sherry had written "If anyone asks how I want to be remembered please say I was a person who always tried to be positive and to find the best in people, I loved my family and friends, had a passion for music, NASCAR, history, old movies, and reading." Sherry was a 1973 graduate of William Fleming High School. In her earlier life she sold Tupperware. She was employed for 15 years by Howell's Motor Freight in Cloverdale where she had many longtime friends. Sherry is survived by her Mother, Ruby Shaw Robertson. Sherry and Ruby shared a home together for over seven years after her father's passing. Sherry is also survived by her uncle, Robert W. White of Blountville, Tenn. and his lady, Shirley Grant; aunt, Rosie Robertson, of Roanoke; cousins, Bill Hundley of Greensboro, N.C., Tim White and wife Penny of Blountville, Tenn; (Sherry considered Bill and Tim more like "brothers" than cousins). Other beloved cousins are Tom Philpott and wife Carolyn of Vinton, Va; Pam Manuel and husband Bud of Blountville, Tenn; and Michael Robertson of Roanoke; numerous other cousins, extended family members, friends too numerous to mention and her handsome black cat, Spaso. Interment will follow in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.6 She was buried at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, 5070 Cove Road N. W., Roanoke, Virginia.6 She was born on March 31, 1956 at Roanoke, Virginia.3,4,5,6 As of July 19, 1975,her married name was Huddleston.3 She married Joseph Frank Huddleston III on July 19, 1975 at Roanoke, Virginia.3 Sherry Lee Robertson and Joseph Frank Huddleston III were divorced on June 17, 1985 at Roanoke, Virginia.5 As of May 26, 1990,her married name was Lockhart.3 Sherry Lee Robertson married Douglas Allan "Doug" Lockhart on May 26, 1990 at Roanoke Co., Virginia.1,3 Sherry Lee Robertson died on January 31, 2018 at Roanoke, Virginia, at age 61.6
