Kenis had served in the United States Army during World War II. He had worked for Red Line Trucking, Mason Dixon Trucking and Standard Trucking until his retirement. He was a founding member of Life Tabernacle Church and held the position of Trustee on the church board for 53 years. To his grandchildren he was known as pawpaw, to his trucking friends as "Mike" and to his church family as Brother Palmer. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, November 26, 2012, at Oakey's North Chapel with the Rev. Tino Maciel officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park with Military Honors by the U.S. Army. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday at Oakey's North Chapel, on November 25, 2012.²
