He was a faithful member of GateWay Church where he was a church chaplain, Bible study leader, and a loyal member of the Gideons International Ministry. He was a devoted Christian and his love for the Lord was seen daily by all who knew him. Chuck loved being a grandpa, and nothing thrilled him more than attending his grandchildren’s sports and school activities. He enjoyed the little things in life; feeding the birds in his backyard, traveling with his family, and watching the Yankees beat the Dodgers. Chuck went peacefully home to be with the Lord on November 24, 2021, surrounded by his family. Chuck would often say, “Life is short and time flies by.” It was important that he lived his life as an example of God’s love in hope that it would lead others to the Lord. on December 3, 2021.⁴

     Carl Dudley Jannay Carl D. Jannay, 84, of Roanoke, Virginia peacefully went to his heavenly home on Friday, December 8, 2023. He was born on February 11, 1939 in Roanoke to Lonza and Nana King Jannay. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, and his beloved wife, Loretta Jannay. Carl retired from the Double Envelope Corporation. After retirement, he went on to be a bus driver for Northside Schools, and even filled in as the Q99 radio's Q Bear mascot. Carl enjoyed riding motorcycles and was a member of the Christian Biker Association. Carl loved driving his tractor whether it be for farming, mowing or snow removal. He was a devout Christian and a member of Hope Bible Church. Carl was a caring family man who will be greatly missed by those who loved him. He is survived by his longtime companion, Elsie Brown; his son, Dean Jannay (Penny); his daughter Tanya Webster (Steve); his grandchildren, Zach Jannay (Brandie) and Tyler Jannay; His great-grandchildren, Preston and Mia Jannay; his sister, Pamela Jannay; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
