Mary Ruth Okes Mary Ruth Okes Hatcher Cook, 90, of Matheny went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, May 20, 2012, following a sudden illness. Born May 23, 1921, in Shady Springs, she was the daughter of the late Frederick Morton Okes and Willie Emeline Furrow Okes Jolly. Mrs. Cook was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Welch. She was a homemaker and a custodian. Her hobbies included genealogy, stamp and coin collecting, sewing, and church activities. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Robert "Pop" Jolly; her first husband, Carl H. Hatcher; second husband, D. Harley Cook; infant twin babies; brothers, Richard Jolly, Clyde V. Okes, William "Scott" Oakes, Edward Jolly, Robert "Buck" Jolly; and sisters, Cora Okes Greco Porterfield, Ethel Jolly Pickett, Lakie Jolly Shiflett, Marie Jolly Minnex, and Arabelle Jolly Lodge. Surviving are her son, Frederick Hatcher and wife, June of Matheny; daughter, Vickie Hatcher, of Winfield; three grandchildren, Kimberly Hatcher Harrison and husband, Kevin of Kopperston, Amy Hayes Nafchi and husband, Cyrus of Teays Valley, Nathan Hayes of Lake Jackson, TX; great-grandchildren, Erin Harrison of Kopperston and Amelia Nafchi of Teays Valley; brothers, John Jesse Okes of Medina, OH; William "Bill" Jolly of Shady Springs; sisters, Polly J. Dollie Garnett Furrow Dollie Garnett Golden Basham age 84 of Cool Ridge, WV passed away on Saturday July 8, 2017 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley. Born on March 13, 1933 at Shady Spring, she was the daughter of the late Henry Furrow and Effie Meadows Furrow. Mrs. Basham was a homemaker, and was a member of Glen Morgan Missionary Baptist Church. She had made her home in Cool Ridge since 1993, having moved from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. In addition to her parents, She was preceded in death by her first husband, Willie J. Golden, by second husband Lewis Basham; daughters Carol S. Imes, and Debbie K. Golden; by brothers Paul and Edward Furrow. Those survivors left to cherish her memory include children; Pauline S. Pierce and husband Paul of Eufaula, Oklahoma, Willie J. Golden Jr. of Mineral Wells, Texas, Terri L. Robert of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Brenda D. Golden of Daniels, WV; three brothers, Landon Furrow of Shady Spring, John Furrow and wife Norma of Shady Spring, and Eugene Furrow and wife Jinny of Mountain Home, Idaho; three sisters, Mollie Pack of Shady Spring, Rosemary Barckley of Mineral Wells, Texas, and Cloetta Bennett and husband Robert of Shady Spring; ten grandchildren, Richard L. Fugitt Jr., Michael D. Fugitt and wife Delyn, Derek M. Pierce, Suzi Imes-Bryce and husband Jack, Byron Imes, Robert L. Zinn Jr., Jonathan Golden, Nicole Golden, Tanya Wilbur and husband Jeff, and Brandon Golden; nine great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home Shady Spring Chapel on Wednesday July 12, 2017 at 11AM with Pastor Ernie Junior Moye officiating. Mack Albert Lewis Basham was buried at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, 5250 Robert Centre Byrd Drive, Prosperity, Raleigh Co., West Virginia.4 He Mack Albert Lewis Basham, age 83, of Cool Ridge, West Virginia, passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2013, at the Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital. Born on January 13, 1930, at Mt. View, WV, he was the son of the late Mack Basham and Chloe Ransom Basham. Mr. Basham was a retired coal miner, and a member of the UMWA. He was a member of the Glen Morgan Missionary Baptist Church at Glen Morgan, where he served as a trustee. In his spare time Mr. Basham enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. Mr. Basham also served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Delta Basham, by a brother, Paul Basham, by an infant son David John Basham, by a grandson, Jason Carr, and by stepdaughters Dr. Carol Imes, and Debra Golden. Surviving wife of nearly 20 years Dollie Furrow Golden Basham, his children, Pauline Pierce and her husband Paul of Eufaula, Oklahoma, Mary Ellen Lilly of Cool Ridge, William Basham and his wife Bert of Beckley, Kenneth Basham of Cool Ridge, stepchildren Brenda Golden of Daniels, Terri Robert of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Willie J . Golden of Mineral Wells, Texas. Brothers, George Basham and his wife Margot of Shady Spring, Harland Basham and his wife Patty of Beckley, Palma Basham and his wife Becky of North Carolina, Leroy Basham and his wife Ann of Cool Ridge, Sisters: Lola Farley and her husband Les of Cool Ridge, and Wanda Tolliver and her husband Roger of Cool Ridge, WV. Many Grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at the Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home Shady Spring Chapel on Friday, September 20, 2013, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Junior Moye officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity, WV. Friends may visit with the family from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday. Service was 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, at Leak-Memory Chapel with the Rev. Nick Gaines and the Rev. Hughie Denton officiating. Burial followed in Greenwood Cemetery. The family received friends 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29, at the funeral home. Pallbearers were Lamar Hodge, Mike Scroggins, Fred Dobbs, Edward Browder, Sam Pack and Jack Hayes. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements by Leak-Memory Chapel, Montgomery, Ala. on October 8, 2006.2

Betty Jean Hanson May 19, 1940 – July 13, 2011, Betty Jean Furrow, 71, a resident of Thomasville, AL and a former resident of Millbrook, AL passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 in a Mobile Alabama hospital with her family by her side. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Paul Warner Furrow in 2006. She is survived by her three sons, Charles Bartley Furrow (Donna), of Thomasville, AL, Keith Alan Furrow (Teresa), of Thomasville, AL and Kevin Paul Furrow (Gail), of Thomasville, AL. Mrs. Furrow was blessed with eight grandchildren, Jason Furrow (Heather), Matthew Furrow, Cub McAleer, Maegen McAleer, Jennifer Castleberry (Shane), Tiffany Lockhart, Clay Furrow (Alison Blankenship) and Hunter Furrow, and four great-grandchildren, Madisen Phillips, Brayton Furrow, Zack and Russel Castleberry. She retired from Sylvest and enjoyed the rest of her life spending time in the company of family and friends and with an occasional fishing trip or two. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. The family will receive visitors on Saturday, July 16, 2011 from 10:00 to 11:00 am at Leak Memory Chapel and a Chapel service will follow at 11:00 am with Rev. Nick Gaines and Rev. Hughie Denton officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery.
