Martin, 82, passed away June 2, 2015. She was born in Beckley, W.Va. on September 14, 1932 to Roy and Eloise Arthur. She was the third of four children. After she married Clyde they moved to Akron and raised their family in North Hill. Janice was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved her family wholeheartedly and unconditionally. Nanny was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Clyde; sister, Betty; and her brother, Gene. She is survived by her sons, Jeffrey and Ronald (Nadine); grandchildren, Amanda (Robert) Cunningham, Samantha (Mike) Bennett, Christina (Joseph) Faust, Jeffrey (Krista), Ronald (Kelly), Daniel (Jennifer); six great-grandchildren; and her sister, Jackie Bragg. Ferguson, 74, of Box 834, Coal City, formerly of Josephine, died Sunday, June 11, in a Beckley hospital afer a long illness. Born July 16, 1914, in Johnson City, Tenn., he was the son of the late James H. and Anna Mae Townsend Ferguson. Mr. Ferguson was a 40-year coal miner, employed by the Classic Fire Creek Coal Company, was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and was a 55-year resident of Josephine and a two and half year resident of Coal City and was a member of the UMWA. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Judy Mae and Mary Ann Ferguson; a sister, Buenia Dillon and two brothers, S.D. and Eddie Ferguson. Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Martin Ferguson; four sisters, Sarah Jane Bolen of Josephine, Ruth Jarred of Gibsonville, N.C., Betty Shrewsberry of Toledo, Ohio and Hope Garretson of Chillicothe, Ohio, ana several nieces and nephews. Burial will be in the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity. on June 13, 1989.⁴
