The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Orchard Drive Baptist Church with the Rev. Michael Harrison and Dr. Joe R. Bryant officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Burial Park. Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 tonight at the church and at other times at the home. Bassett Funeral Service is handling arrangements. on February 4, 2002.2

     Ewell Andrew Hunt Sheriff Ewell Andrew Hunt was sent to be with the Lord suddenly on Saturday, August 29, 2015. He was born on January 31, 1955 in Rocky Mount, Virginia, the son of the late Posie and Doris Hunt. He was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Buren and Ruby McAlexander. A loving husband, father, and friend to all that truly knew him, Sheriff Hunt is survived by his loving wife Patricia McAlexander Hunt, his beautiful and faithful daughter Ashley McAlexander Hunt; his brother Ray Hunt and his wife Rena and their children Nan McGuire and Sam Hunt; his sister Judy Ankeny and her husband Dan, and their children Rocky and Renae; his sister-in-law the Rev. Mitzi Noble, her husband Dr. Paul Noble and their children Michael and James Noble; and numerous other relatives that he loved so very dearly. He is also survived by the family’s special pets, Deppy, Koco, and Sandy. Sheriff Hunt and his wife were members of Trinity Episcopal Church in Rocky Mount, Virginia. Sheriff Hunt was a lifelong resident of his beloved Franklin County, having graduated from Franklin County High School in 1973, he received his Associated Degree in Police Science from the Danville Community College in 1975. On January 1, 1976, Ewell became a sworn deputy of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department, serving the community that he loved with distinction for the next thirty-six years, rising through the ranks to achieve the rank of Lieutenant. In 2007, he was elected Sheriff of Franklin County, and served in that capacity for four years. During his career, Ewell was a long-serving member of the Virginia Board of Forensic Sciences, serving as its President. Sheriff Hunt was the acting Captain of the Ferrum Rescue Squad at the time of his passing. Known for his compassion for others, random acts of kindness, and his love for his fellow citizens of Franklin County, Sheriff Hunt dedicated his life to the service of others. Ewell had a never-ending “can-do” spirit and work ethic, and he was a sincere friend to everyone he met. He was welcomed and revered in churches of all faiths throughout the county, and his faith in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was only matched by his love for his family. His passion for justice and trust in his fellow man never faltered. A Service of Christian Burial will be held at Mountain View Memorial Park, located at 5970 Grassy Hill Rd., Boones Mill, Virginia after the Memorial Service.5 He was buried at Mountain View Memorial Park (also known as Mountain View Burial Park), 5970 Grassy Hill Road, Boones Mill, Franklin Co., Virginia.5 He was born on January 31, 1955 at Rocky Mount, Franklin Co., Virginia.3,4,5 He married Patricia Ann McAlexander on June 15, 1989 at Moneta, Bedford Co., Virginia.4,5 Ewell Andrew Hunt died on August 29, 2015 at Virginia at age 60.5

She was a member of Fredericksburg Baptist Church, a former longtime Sunday school teacher, and a member of the Women’s Missionary Union. She was the widow of William I. Poff. She is survived by two daughters, Sandra McAllister and Susan P. Wright; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; five sisters, Mary Marsh, Teresa Douthat, Naomi DePhillips, Inez Highberg, Vera Schrieber and her husband, David, all of Lynchburg; one sister-in-law, Norma Creasy of Hollins. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Norma “Polly” Williams; two brothers, Nelson and Bernard Creasy; two sisters, Zola Wheeler and Grace Lyman. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. on April 30, 2004.2

Charles was born in Passapatanzy on Oct. 14, 1930. He had retired after 25 years of service with VDOT, and was a member of Fletcher's Chapel United Methodist Church and a lifetime member of the White Oak Volunteer Fire Department. Charles was preceded in death by his first wife, Norma Polly Williams; his second wife, Christine M. Williams; his parents, T. Wray and Daisy H. Williams; brother Thomas Williams Jr; and a nephew, Kenneth W. Williams. Survivors include two daughters, DonnaMarie Dent of Petersburg and Cathy D. Doggett of Fredericksburg; a son, C.
