Dolores Catherine White Dolores Catherine Hairston, 82, of Ironton, passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at her residence. The Lawrence County, Ohio native was born August 10, 1935, a daughter of the late Charles and Mettice Gearhart White. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Russell M. Hairston, who passed away in January 1996. Mrs. Hairston was a 1952 graduate of Rock Hill High School and received her Bachelors Degree in Education from Ohio University. She was a former teacher for the Rock Hill School District for 36 years, retiring in 1997. She was a member of the Lawrence Furnace Church, where she was a member of the Women's Auxiliary and a member of the Retired Teachers Association. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by: two brothers: Emerson White and Fletcher White; a sister: Eileen Stamper; an infant sister: Eva White. She is survived by three sons: Michael (Sharon) Hairston, Wesley (Lisa) Hairston and Jeffrey (Andrea) Hairston all of Ironton; eight grandchildren: Craig (Noel) Hairston, Meagan (Josh) Joseph, Stephanie (Brent) Owens, Brianna (Paul Saunders) Hairston, Braedan Hairston, Sydney Hairston, Jordan Hairston, and Jill Hairston; three great grandchildren: Hadley Hairston, Campbell Hairston, Averie Owens; a close friend: Lois DeAutremont; a sister-in-law: Georgia Triplett of Ironton.
