B. and Martha Smith Thurston. Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Burl Gillman, Melbourne, Fla., Mrs. R. E. Lowe and Mrs. Louise Stanley, both of Beckley, Mrs. Ray Hackney, Charleston and Mrs. Dora Cook, Chattaroy; a brother, R. L. Thurston, Williamson; two sisters, Mrs. Joe Sutherland, Chattaroy and Mrs. Willis Miller, Oak Hill, Ohio and seven grandchildren. on January 15, 1967.³

Her survivors include two daughters, Bonnie Gilman of Box 54, Chattaroy, WV 25667, and Sandra Pendergrass-Russell of Route 2, Box 90A, Towanda, PA 18848; three grandsons, Paul Ford, Timmy Pendergrass and Jimmy Gilman; one granddaughter, Elizabeth Louise "Beth" Branham; two great-grandsons, Cody Ford and Timothy Pendergrass; one great-granddaughter, Candice Elizabeth Gilman; and one sister, Nellie Wright. Mrs. Stanley was a resident of the Charleston area for most of her life, having been employed in the food service industry and had worked for years at The Sterling Restaurant, Rose City Cafeteria and Southern Kitchen Restaurant, all located in Charleston. She retired in 1999. She was a member of the Fifth Avenue Church of God, South Charleston. on August 4, 2005.²

In addition to her parents, Nellie was preceded in death by her first husband Roscoe Ellsworth Lowe, her son Richard Ellsworth Lowe, and her grandson Stephen Lowe. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband Leonard Wright of Beckley; her son John Lowe and his wife Leecreedia of Maryville, Tenn; a stepson James Wright of Greensboro, N.C; a special niece Bonnie Gillman and her husband Jim of Chattaroy; 7 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Following the service Nellie will be entombed in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. on February 11, 2014.⁴

Masonic Lodge #95 of Beckley will be conducting Masonic Rites. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Ewell Eugene Stamper II and his wife, Amy Jo of Pedro, OH., a daughter, Angela Day of Pedro, two granddaughters, Sarah Day and Kierra Stamper, a step-grandson, James Queen.
