Born March 1, 1926, in Uler, Roane County, he was the son of the late Lemon and Locie Jarvis Hicks. Junior was retired from Union Carbide Corporation, Institute, with 39 years of service and was a loyal Christian and a member of Lower Falls Baptist Church, St. Albans, where he also served as Sunday school superintendent for 14 years and was a deacon. He was a member of Putnam Masonic Lodge 139 AF&AM, Hurricane, and the St. Albans post of the VFW. He was a former scoutmaster for 22 years for the troop at First Baptist Church, Hurricane. He served his country during World War II in the Philippines with the United States Navy. Junior enjoyed carpentry, bird watching and spending time with his family. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Janet Blackwell Hicks; his sons and daughters-in-law, Howard and Debbie Hicks of Franklin, Tenn., Roger and Kathy Hicks of Culloden, Gary and Vicki Hicks of Eleanor; his brother and sister-in-law, Avon and Mary Hicks of Canton, Ohio; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Gertie Faye and James B. Blackwell of Gahanna, Ohio, Avis and Douglas Ramey of Hurricane, Deloris and Jim Webb of Parkersburg. Junior also loved his grandchildren, Jeremy, Joey, Justin, Janae, and Heather Hicks, Jennifer Danner and Crissy Craddock; and his great-grandchildren, Jason and Faith Craddock and Brittany, Logan, Joseph and Kieran Hicks. Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, March 24, at Bartlett Chapman Funeral Home, 409 Sixth Ave., St. Albans, with the Rev. Brian King officiating. Entombment will be in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. on March 23, 2005.2

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 26, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with Pastor Mark Thaxton officiating. Burial will follow in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans. A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 25, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar. on June 25, 2014.4

     Jane Lee Martin was buried at Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans, Kanawha Co., West Virginia.2 She was born on September 7, 1934 at Putnam Co., West Virginia.1,3 As of February 6, 1965,her married name was Blackwell.1 She married James Delbert "J.D." Blackwell Jr., son of James Delbert Blackwell Sr. and Josephine Mae Noble, on February 6, 1965 at South Charleston, Kanawha Co., West Virginia.1,2 Jane Lee Martin died on July 5, 2011 at West Virginia at age 76.3,2 She Jane L. Blackwell of South Charleston went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, July 5, 2011, after a short illness. She graduated from Winfield High School and retired from Union Carbide as a cashier after 20 years of service, then became a homemaker. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, J.D. "Delbert" Blackwell; brother-in-law, John P. Blackwell, and nephew, John P. Blackwell II, both of South Charleston; special cousin, Allen Simms and his wife, Barbara, of Winfield; and special caregivers, Carol and Johnny McDavid of South Charleston.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 8, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with Pastor Mark Thaxton officiating. Burial will follow in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar. on July 7, 2011.2
