Stewart Elliott Mason Stewart E. Mason, age 66 of Rocky Mount died Thursday, September 15, 2022. He was born April 25, 1956 a son of the late Lloyd and Doris Mason. He was also preceded in death by his step-mother, Elaine Mason; brother, Leon Mason; and brother-in-law, Hilbert S. Lawrence. Surviving are his wife, Susan Mason; daughter, Jamie Mason; grandson, Jaxson Mason Ferguson; sister, Linda Lawrence; sister-in-law, Oneda Mason; step-sister, Patricia Gravely; numerous loving nieces and nephews. Mr. Mason retired following 31 years of service with Franklin County Public Schools. He taught autobody repair training in which many young men later chose as a career. Stewart truly loved his job and made life long friends with the teachers at the John L. Smith Career & Technical Center.6 He was born on April 25, 1956 at Franklin Co., Virginia.2,3,6 He married Nancy Susan Thurman on July 20, 1978 at Rocky Mount, Franklin Co., Virginia.2 Stewart Elliott Mason died on September 15, 2022 at Virginia at age 66.6

He worked at Burlington Mills, Goodyear, farmed and run an auto mechanic shop. He loved helping people and was a dear friend to everybody in the community. In addition to his wife he is survived by three children; Monica Doss of Penhook, Nikki Lawrence of Chatham, and Hilbert Stone Lawrence II of Callands; five granddaughters, Sasha Lawrence of Rocky Mount, Jena Hutson of Rocky Mount, Davin Adkins of Chatham, and a special granddaughter Heather Adkins that he raised as his own, and Krystal Doss of Penhook; one great-grandson, Logan Jones of Rocky Mount; two brothers, Aubrey Lawrence of Chatham and Ed Lawrence of Penhook; two sisters, Shirley L. Doss and her husband, J.M. Doss of Chatham and Myrtle L. Thornton and husband, Joseph Thornton of College Park, Md. and a number of nieces and nephews; two brothers-in-law, Leon Mason and his wife Oneda of Ferrum, and Stuart Mason and his wife Susan of Rocky Mount. He was predeceased by two sisters Ethridge L. Thornton and Linda F. Lawrence, and one brother, Samuel A. Lawrence. Burial was at Adkins Lawrence Family Cemetery. on April 7, 2008.2

Mary Frances Baker was buried at East Hill Cemetery, Salem, Roanoke Co., Virginia.3,4 She Mary Baker Hancock, 99 of Salem, passed away on Monday, April 18, 2022. A native of Salem, Virginia, she was the daughter of John Boxton Baker and Ada V. Compton Baker. Mary was a member of the Church of Christ in Salem until the early seventies. She later attended Beaver Dam Baptist Church. She retired from G.E. after 20+ years and had previously worked at the Salem Hosiery Mill, as well as the candy counter at J.J. Newberry's. In her free time, Mary enjoyed square dancing and working with the flowers in her yard. Her strong work ethic evolved from her enjoyment of farming and caring for the cows, chickens, and peacocks. She certainly loved her family and that above everything else will be remembered most. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Hancock; seven of her brothers; John, Clyde, Cliff, Herbert "Jack," Howard, Warren, Earl Shelton "Jeff;" two of her sisters, Kathleen Gladys, and Claudine; daughter-in-law, Twila Saul Turner; and her son-in-law, Richard N. Brammer. Family remaining to cherish her memory include her children; Margaret Ann Turner Brammer, and Glenn K. Turner; grandchildren, Lori L. Brammer, Matthew G. Turner, and Brant G. Turner; Great-grandchild, Taurys A. Turner; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members. Graveside will be conducted at East Hill Cemetery, in Salem. The family would like to offer a special thank you to the 3'rd floor staff at Friendship Manor, in Roanoke, for the love and care given to Mary when it was most needed. Andrew Jackson Walker, aged 89 years, and one of the oldest residents of this section of the country, died at 5 o'clock Monday evening at his home in LaPrairie from a stroke of apoplexy. He had been in failing health for some time but was working in his garden a short time before his death. Mr. Walker was born in Virginia and came to Illinois when 19 years of age, having resided continually in Adams county with the exception of a short time when he was employed in Keokuk, Ia. He was a member of the 39th Illinois volunteers and served four years in the civil war. He had been a resident of LaPrairie for the past 40 years. Mr. Walker was married to Miss Katherine Ferree of Pennsylvania in November, 1853, and to them were born six children, one of whom died in infancy. Those surviving are: Charles A. Walker of Galesburg, Mrs. Jennie E. McKeowan of LaPrairie, Mrs. Mary Robbins of Montana, Dr. Joel F. Walker of Missouri, and George K. Walker of St. Louis. The deceased's first wife died November 24, 1890, and he was later married to Mrs. Mary Moore in Mt. Sterling. He had been a member of the Methodist church for many years and was a regular attendant until his health began to fail. The funeral will be held from the church Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock with burial in the Pulaski cemetery. on May 23, 1916.3

I will do all I can for you untill I hear from you We are selling nothing hardly any way now here But your goods is jest as safe as if you was with them so long as I keep well and I hope I may I close by hoping that I may hear from you in due time.
