     Florence Ann Ward Florence Ann Ward Puckett, age 84, of Spencer died on Thursday, October 9, 2014, at the Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, N.C. She was born in Martinsville on June 5, 1930 to the late Sandy Ralph and Georgia Kate Padgett Ward. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Clayton Puckett; a son, Sandy Richard Puckett; four brothers: Cecil Ward, Bill Ward, Ralph “Skinny” Ward and Robert Ward; and a sister, Myrtle Kendrick. She was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church and a graduate of Spencer-Penn High School. Florence was a former co-owner/operator of Wards Store now known as C&B Market on Preston Road for fifty years. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Clayton “Clay” (Neda) Puckett of Spencer; her grandson, Jon Clayton Puckett of Richmond; two brothers: Paul Ward and Raymond “Doc” Ward, both of Martinsville; and numerous nieces and nephews. Her funeral service will be held on Monday, October 13, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Roselawn Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Ramsey officiating the service. Interment will follow in the Ward Family Cemetery in Spencer. Pallbearers will be Jerry Ward, Al Ward, Steve Kendrick, Todd Mize, John Ward, Gary Franklin, Charlie Perdue, Stan Vosper and Patrick Belton. The family will receive friends from 12-2:00 p.m. on Monday in the chapel of Roselawn and at other times at the home of her son, at 585 Marigold Road, Spencer.      Elbert Clayton Puckett was buried at Ward Cemetery, Horse Pasture, Henry Co., Virginia.² He was born on March 3, 1929 at Patrick Co., Virginia.² He married Florence Ann Ward, daughter of Samuel Ralph "Sandy" Ward Sr. and Georgia Kate "Georgie" Padgett, on September 1, 1949 at Henry Co., Virginia.^1,3 Elbert Clayton Puckett died on November 14, 2000 at Martinsville, Virginia, at age 71.²

     Iris Emerline Kellam was buried at Old Well Christain Church Cemetery, Spencer, Henry Co., Virginia.¹ She was born on May 1, 1927 at Henry Co., Virginia.^3,1,2 As of October 2, 1965,her married name was Ward.² She married Robert Rufus Ward, son of Samuel Ralph "Sandy" Ward Sr. and Georgia Kate "Georgie" Padgett, on October 2, 1965 at Martinsville, Virginia.^4,1,2 Iris Emerline Kellam died on October 17, 2012 at Rocky Mount, Franklin Co., Virginia, at age 85.^1,3 She Iris K. Ward, 85, of Evergreen Drive, Spencer, died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012, at Franklin Health & Rehabilitation Center, Rocky Mount. She was born May 1, 1927 to John D. Kellam and Elsie Pruitt Kellam. She was a member of Old Well Christian Church, a graduate of Spencer Penn School and attended Perry Business College. She was a homemaker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Billy R. Ward; and two brothers: Wayne Kellam and J.D. Kellam. Surviving are her husband of 67 years, Robert R. Ward; three sons: John R. Ward of Ridgeway, James L. “Jimmy” Ward of Spencer, and Gene D. Ward of Spencer; one sister, Ruby K. Tatum of King, N.C; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and six nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Old Well Christian Church. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the church. on October 18, 2012.¹

He was born on Aug. 5, 1950 to Robert R. Ward and Iris Kellam Ward. He was self-employed at the Old Well Service Center. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Rita Ward, of the home; a daughter, Suzanna Kate Ward, of the home; a son, Nickalus P. Ward, of the home; and three brothers: John R. Ward, James. L. Ward and Gene D. Ward, all of Spencer. The funeral will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Norris Funeral Services chapel with Minister David Cuthbertson officiating. The family will receive friends an hour and a half before the funeral.      Sandy Richard Puckett was buried at Ward Cemetery, Horse Pasture, Henry Co., Virginia.² He was born on June 6, 1950 at Martinsville, Virginia.² He died on March 15, 2009 at Taipei, Taiwan, at age 58.² He Sandy Richard Puckett, 58, formerly of Spencer, died March 15, 2009 at his home in Taipei, Taiwan. He was born in Martinsville on June 6, 1950 and was a son of Florence Puckett of Spencer and the late Elbert Clayton Puckett. He graduated from Drewry Mason High School in 1968 and from the College of William and Mary in 1972, where he received a bachelor's degree in math, then received his master's degree in mathematics from Western Carolina University. He had been a member of the OKT fraternity since 1969. Mr. Puckett joined the Peace Corps in 1972 and taught school in Lesotho, Africa. He returned to Martinsville in 1974 and worked for Social Services. He also taught school in Jackson County, N.C., for more than nine years. Drom 1983 to 1985, he taught at the American school at The Hague in the Netherlands. During this period, he also exhibited his art works and paintings. He had been teaching at the American School in Taipei since 1991. During his lifetime, he visited more than 30 foreign countries. He also wrote and published children's books. Surviving, in addition to his mother, are one brother, Clay Puckett of Spencer, and one nephew. Funeral services were conducted Monday at Roselawn Chapel Funeral Home by the Rev. Douglas Ramsey. Burial was in the Ward family cemetery in Spencer. Pallbearers were Gregg Franklin, Gary Franklin, Charles Perdue, Stan Vosper, John Salop, Greg Phillips, Morris Puckett, Jerry Ward, Ricky Belton, Brandon Shivley, Steve Puckett and Alan Ward. on April 1, 2009.²
