Milliken, Jan. 5, 1914 - Nov. 19, 1998. Maggie J. (Miller) Milliken, 84, of Phoenix, Ariz., formerly of South Bend, Ind., passed away on Thursday, Nov. 19, in Hull, Mass. She was born in St. Joseph County, Ind., and graduated from New Carlisle High School in 1933. She owned a garage in Crumstown and co-owned the South Bend Motor Speedway. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Christine Miller; a sister, Ida Worthington; and by her husband, Alton. Maggie is survived by a daughter, Betty Ann Wright; sisters, Martha Alice Wilson and Dora Lichtenbarger; brother, Howard H. Miller; grandchildren, Bob and Ron Weaver, and Mickey Wright; and by nine great-grandchildren. on November 23, 1998.³

     Ernest Carl Ness was buried at Pine Lake Cemetery, 1367 Pine Lake Road, La Porte, La Porte Co., Indiana.^3,6,7 He was born on February 23, 1912 at Wills, La Porte Co., Indiana.^1,3,6,5 He married Beatrice Vinna Milliken, daughter of James Ora Milliken and Elizabeth Wedell, on August 23, 1936 at Kingsbury, St. Joseph Co., Indiana.^8,4,7 Ernest Carl Ness died on March 30, 1953 at Lincoln Township, La Porte Co., Indiana, at age 41.^3,6,7 He En route to the Mill Creek School to pick up a load of students, Ernest C. Ness, 41, Rt. 1, Liberty, Ind., school bus driver, collapsed and died of a heart attack at 3:30 p. m. Monday. The bus crashed through a fence and came to rest in a field four miles east of Mill Creek, State Police reported. They said passers saw the car in the field, investigated and then called an ambulance. However, Ness was already dead. The accident occurred a mile from Ness' home ,which is in Lincoln Township. LaPorte County. State Trooper Hubert Richardson, of the Dunes Park Post, investigated. Ness was born in Wills Township, LaPorte County and spent his life in this vicinity. He was a farmer. His marriage to Beatrice Milliken took Aug. 23, 1935 in Kingsbury. He was a member of the LaPorte Baptist Church. Surviving are the widow; two children, Lorna and Buford, at home, and a brother, Stanley, of North Liberty. Burial will be in Pine Lake Cemetery. on March 31, 1953.⁷

Services for Howard E. England, 74, of Decatur, Texas, formerly of Bremen, who died at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Harris Hospital, Fort Worth, Texas, after an illness, will be Tuesday. Burial will be in Bremen Cemetery. Mr. England retired from Bendix Aviation as an aviation supply expeditor. He was born July 3, 1918, in Davy, W.Va., moving to Decatur in 1980 from Bremen. On Sept. 3, 1960, in Phoenix, he married Beatrice V. Milliken Ness. She survives with a daughter, Faydene Dumph of Bremen; a son, Phil, of Bremen; a stepdaughter, Lana G. Morgan of Decatur; a stepson, Buford Ness of Decatur; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four sisters, Dessie Miller of Venton, Va., Hazel Johnston of Premier, W.Va., Marie Roberts of Hanover, W.Va., and Jeanette Dean of Williamson, W.Va; and a brother, James V. of Welch, W.Va. He was a member of Trinity Word Church of Decatur and American Legion Post 284, South Bend. He was an Army veteran of World War II. on August 2, 1992.⁷
