     Roger Dean Allen EDWARDSBURG, MI - Roger Dean Allen, born February 24, 1929 in Edwardsburg, Michigan, passed away on February 2, 2020, having been a life long resident in the Edwardsburg area. He graduated from Edwardsburg High School in 1949. He is survived by his brother Robert, son Mark (Lisa) and daughters Jerry Ann Allen and Judy (Jeff) Dorchock. He has six grandchildren, Kelly (Chris) Sandmeyer, Katie Allen, Janet Allen, Jeffery Dorchock, Marissa Dorchock, and Anthony (Miranda) Dopp; and two great-grandchildren, Beckham Dorchock and Brynlee Sandmeyer. He was preceded in passing by his wife, Mary Louise (Chickey), brother, Carl and sister, Betty. He served our country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was stationed in both Alaska and Long Beach, California where he met the love of his life, Mary Louise Carrillo (Chickey). He learned the machinist trade while in the Navy and utilized this skill working for Whitehall Laboratories in Elkhart, Indiana for over 30 years. He was a devout Catholic, and was an active member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Parish since 1954. He enjoyed volunteering at his parish, especially driving Father Dave. He also enjoyed volunteering at Golden Living Nursing Home in Elkhart and at the Historical Museum in Edwardsburg. He had a love for baseball and was involved at many levels his entire life, from coaching little league through cheering on the Tigers and Cubs. He will be remembered as an incredibly kind person who devoted his life to his family. A graveside memorial will then take place at Five Points Cemetery in Edwardsburg.3 He was buried at Five Points Cemetery, Edwardsburg, Cass Co., Michigan.2 He was born on February 24, 1929 at Edwardsburg, Cass Co., Michigan.3,2,4 He married Mary Louise Carrillo on July 3, 1954 at Los Angeles Co., California.2,3,9 Roger Dean Allen died on February 2, 2020 at Edwardsburg, Cass Co., Michigan, at age 90.2,3

     Nicholas Follmer was buried at Smith's Chapel Cemetery, Milton Township, Cass Co., Michigan.2,3,4 He was born on January 4, 1859 at Troy, Miami Co., Ohio.1,5,3,4 He married Martha Bishop, daughter of Daniel Bishop and Mary Poff, on March 4, 1885 at Calvin Township, Cass Co., Michigan.6,5,7,4 Nicholas Follmer died on December 30, 1932 at Milton Township, Cass Co., Michigan, at age 73.2,3,4 He Nicholas Follmer, aged almost 74 years, died at his home in Milton township (one-half mile north of Milton town hall) at noon last Friday after a long period of ill health. Funeral services were held at Smith's chapel in Milton, Monday afternoon, and burial was made in the Smith chapel cemetery. Mr. Follmer was born in Miami county, Ohio, Jan. 4, 1859. The family came Jamestown, Ind., in 1864. In 1885 he was married to Miss Martha Bishop, of Mason who, with one son, Chester, survives him. He is also survived by three grandchildren and by two brothers, Charles of Milton and William residing in Idaho. Mr. Follmer followed agriculture all his life and was an industrious and worthy citizen who will be missed in the community where he had resided for over forty years, having moved from Mason township to Milton township in 1890. on January 5, 1933.4

He was the son of Nicholas and Martha Follmer. He married Myrtle Bolton July 30, 1915. Follmer was supervisor for four years and was an official of Cass County Farm Bureau. Besides his widow, he is survived by two sons, Robert and Richard, both at home, four grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Marie Kaiser of Elkhart. Burial will be in Smith Chapel cemetery. on February 5, 1953.8

He most recently worked in maintenance for the Edwardsburg Post office. On Aug. 10, 1945, in Edwardsburg, he married Winifred L. Hamilton, who survives. Other survivors include one son, Larry of Niles; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Richard and one sister, Florence. on January 2, 1992.13

     Florence Follmer was buried at Smith's Chapel Cemetery, Milton Township, Cass Co., Michigan.6,3,4 She was born on July 19, 1919 at Milton Township, Cass Co., Michigan.5 She died on September 9, 1938 at Milton Township, Cass Co., Michigan, at age 19.6,3,5,4 She Miss Florence Follmer, 19, a conscientious worker over-worried about her work as a teacher of the Dibble school in Howard township, took her own life last Friday evening after she had completed her day's work in the school room and returned to her home. Miss Follmer, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chester Follmer of Milton township, was graduated from Edwardsburg high school with the class of 1937, attended Cass County Normal at Dowagiac for one year, and then engaged to teach the Dibble school. It was, therefore, her first school, and carried a heavy teaching load because she had pupils in all of the eight grades. The work worried her, and she came home Friday evening highly nervous about it. Her mother advised her to take a walk out in the fresh air, believing that would be helpful. As Miss Follmer failed to return to the house in due time her mother started out to look for her, finding her body in the barn with the hay rope around her neck, she having hung herself. Coroner Dr. J. H. Kelacy was summoned but did not consider an inquest to be necessary. Miss Follmer was born nineteen years ago on the farm where the family now lives, and had spent her life there. She was very highly respected as a young woman of sterling worth character, and her death was a shuck to the entire community, the people of which sympathize sincerely and deeply with the bereaved family. She is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chester Follmer, by her grandmother, Mrs. Mattie Follmer, by her grandfather, Samuel Bolton, and by two brothers, Richard and Robert Follmer at home. Funeral services were held at Smith's Chapel in Milton, and burial was in the adjacent cemetery. on September 15, 1938.4
