She had been in declining health for several years. Mrs. Lewis was a native of Pittsylvania County and was daughter of the late Sam Newby and Melissa Dodson Newby. Most of her life was spent in Danville and she was employe at the Star Laundry prior to her retirement. Her husband, Luther G. Lewis, died Sept. 28, 1960. Surviving are one daughter Mrs. Lois Vaden, and one son W. A. Lewis, both o£ Danville. Three grandchildren and one great grandchild also survive. Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2:00 o'clock from the Wrenn-Yeatts Chapel and interment will be in Mt. View Cemetery. The body will rest at the funeral home prior to the services and the family will be at the home of her daughter, 461 Old Mayfield Rd. on October 28, 1963.⁴ She died on October 28, 1963 at Danville, Virginia, at age 83.^4,3
