Newby of South Boston, Va; two sons, Freddy N. "Trey" Newby III and James Nelson Newby, both of South Boston; his mother, Rita H. Craven and husband Ronald of Sanford; a brother, Dwight Lee Newby of Thomasville; and a great aunt, Sylvia Thomas of Alton, Va. He was preceded in death by his father, Freddy N. Newby Sr; and his grandparents, Sadie T. Newby, M.E. "Shorty" Newby and Mr. & Mrs. Robert Harris. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at North Fork Baptist Church with the Rev. Scott Welch officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family received friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Saturday at Brooks Funeral Home, and at other times at the home. Burial will take place in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Powell Funeral Home on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and other times at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Allie S. Powell, Highway 716, South Boston. Arrangements are by Powell Funeral Home, South Boston. on April 12, 1996.⁴
